My 2016 bucket list – the title says it all really, here’s my list of everything I am hoping to do and achieve in 2016. A new year is always a little exciting with 365 (or 366 this year!) days of possibilities and chances to have fun.

I won’t bore you with list items such as ‘I will have XXXXX amount of followers on this type of social media by the end of the year’, although obviously being a blogger one of my aims will be to grow my following online ;)

Here goes though, my 2016 bucket list, wish me luck lovely people!

My 2016 Bucket List

Visit Harry Potter World – I have included this in my UK Staycation bucket list already, and it is somewhere I would love to take the boys.

Write something that makes a difference to someone – That sounds so cheesy I know but I have had parents of children who have been diagnosed with type 1 Diabetes in the last year, message me to tell me I have made them feel a bit less alone and lost with it all and that means a lot to me.

Finish off my blog design tweaks – I have made a few changes to my blog recently, which I love but there are a few bits I need to tweak still especially my very messy sidebar. I am learning more technical and design bits all the time.

Raise more money for JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) – Fin and Harley started some fundraising last year with our help, and they both did a Beanboozled challenge for charity. We want to do more of these types of challenges and raise more money for a cause that is close to our hearts.

Have a night away overnight child free with Si – We didn’t manage to do that last year unfortunately.

Watch ballet – Ballet is just beautiful, and I would love to watch some this year. Simon did once surprise me with tickets to see the amazing Guangdong acrobatic troupe, who do acrobatics mixed in with ballet and it was absolutely brilliant. If you ever see their performances advertised, I’d snap the tickets up. I would love to watch some straightforward ballet this year at some point though.

Reach my target weight and get in to all my 47 reasons clothes – I feel such a cliché adding weight loss to this list, but fitness and being healthier is one of my big goals this year.

Have a spa day – I have never actually had a single spa treatment, I even very rarely go to the hairdresser, so a treat of a spa day at some point would be amazing.

Visit Brown Willy – Stop giggling, it’s a real place in Cornwall on Bodmin Moor and lovely for a long walk across the moors apparently, I’ve never been but Si is really keen to go. It’s the highest point in Cornwall and is actually a hill, so I suspect it’ll be good exercise!

Have more date nights and days – Time together as a couple is really important I think, and I love getting Si to myself for a day or evening out sometimes as much as we do love the boys.

Learn to cook a lot more meals – I am not a natural chef at all and I didn’t learn how to cook much at all before I left home and I have picked up several dishes I am good at over the years but I want to experiment more and get better at cooking. I would love to do some sort of course, but I have no idea how I’d ever find the time.

Get more organised in my blogging – I am determined to actually have posts scheduled ready to go, and be able to have more time off for family time.

Swap bedrooms with the boys and redecorate – Si is currently working on building new concrete sheds outside, which he wants to finish before we start doing anything indoors, but we do want to swap rooms with the boys and decorate both rooms. I would love to do that this year, and do the repainting that is needed in some other rooms of the house.

I’m sure eventually we’ll be able to say the house is finished…

Build my camera skills – I live in such a beautiful place, I want to get out with my camera more this year and also get better at the indoor photos for my blog, as I struggle with some aspects of this. I also want to do more YouTubing and learn some editing skills, as I am pretty clueless on that side of it.

Build up to running again – Fitness will be a big focus for me this year. I’ve had back and hip issues for almost two years now, which have meant that I haven’t had many days in that time without a bit of pain, and many with a whole lot of pain. I need to firstly strengthen my back, and then build back up to running like I used to.

Grow my hair out – I’m already wondering if I can stand this one, but I have so much old dye in my hair that before I get it coloured to a lighter more natural colour, I think I’m going to have to be brave and let it grow out. I think I’ll be wearing my hair up a lot this year or risking a session with some colour stripper.

Stay in something different – We have stayed in pods before, and a lighthouse keeper’s cottage, but this year I would love to try something a bit different. I don’t even know what yet, but finances depending I’d love to stay in something a bit quirky or different.

Swear less in the car – My boys have told me I HAVE to add this one, the cheek!

Tell the boys I love them every day – This one is a bit of a cheat, as I’m pretty sure I have said it to them every day since they were born.

Mostly though – laugh and smile a lot, have quality family time with the people that I love and have fun!

  1. Aah what a lovely list Stevie! I have a couple of these on mine too — namely getting more organised with my blogging and trying to make a plan!! Last year I blogged as and when I could and really struggled with my time management. Running a business — coping with twin toddlers — and blogging is a crazy combination!! This year I hope to be a little more on the ball! Happy new year to you lovely — I hope you achieve all your goals this year! xx

    1. Thanks hon, I have been the same with my blogging, but I’m determined to be more organised and have some posts to fall back on when the unexpected happens and I can’t get to my laptop for one reason or another. I love a new year and a new diary, full of possibilities! I also have zero idea how those of you with younger children manage to blog, I’m in awe of all of you.

      Stevie xx

  2. That’s such a lovely list to read! I hope you manage to achieve them all this year :)

I have lots of the same on my list – I’ll definitely get in some spa days as I was given a few vouchers as Christmas pressies, we are planning a baby free weekend away (although I have mixed feelings about that one!), I want to improve my fitness and get back to regular running, and I’d love to improve my photography.

    1. Ha it is for a whole year, so bound to be a bit long ;) I’m actually avoiding reading about it lol as want to not know everything before we do go, but will read yours after we come back whenever we go :)

  3. I love you bucket list. All so achievable and a good variety too. I look forward to seeing how you get on! x

    1. Thanks Donna, I was going to put grow a foot taller so I have a perfect bmi but figured I’d stick to the achievable ;)

  5. Love this list Stevie and it’s all totally achievable. I can highly recommend doing a kiddie free night away. We managed to fit one in right at the end of 2015 and we combined it with a spa day. I reckon you could tixk a lot off your bucket list in one go :) Have fun doing it all! X

    1. We managed a night away just the two of us at the end of 2014 and it was lovely, but we didn’t get around to it last year – definitely want to this year though :)

  6. I really should write on of these for myself. There are a few there I’d have on mine for sure and as I’m trying to get Daddy P to agree to a Cornish trip again this year, Brown Willy might have to go on the list too! Love Ballet and Spa days although I haven’t experienced either since Monkey arrived. I did see Madame Butterfly at the Royal Opera House last year, which was amazing and something to tick of my ‘life’ bucket list. Good luck with it all x

    1. We don’t do it enough either, I love being cosy at home but it is nice to have an excuse to get dressed up sometimes!

      Stevie xx

  7. Good list. Nice mix of bigger things and smaller ones. You’ll love the Harry Potter studios, I was blown away at how amazing it was. Have a great 2016 Stevie!

      Stevie x

    1. Thank you, and I’m not sure we’ll hear the end of it from the boys if we don;t get to Harry Potter World – plus I’m a huge fan as well :)

  8. Sounds like you are going to be having a really fun and eventful 2016. I would love to go to the Harry Potter studios and I am also hoping for more dates/child free nights with the husband this year too. Ohh how have you never had a spa treatment? I love spa days, I would recommend a hot stone massage if you do manage to get to a spa this year :) xx #Picknmix

    1. Thanks Laura and ooh with you saying ‘lovely things’ that reminds me to pop over and link up! I put it in my diary and still didn’t get around to actually doing it – failing at the getting more organized bit already ha ;)

      Stevie x

    1. I’ve not been brave enough to try it yet ha, I did it a long time ago and it did take my hair a while to recover…but I loved the lighter colour ;) Harry Potter World is definitely top of our list!

      Stevie x

  9. I laughed at Brown Willy.Oops ha.I’m determined to lose weight this year,I get a dodgy hip and I know it’s weight related as the only other times it’s flared up is during my pregnancies.Good luck with it!I think I need to swear less while driving too.So much infuriates me though,I swear everyone around here has no idea how to use indicators!! xx #picknmix

    1. I so knew you would ha ;) and I’m with you on team dodgy hip, hence why this time I have my determined head on even though everyone here had jam on toast or crumpets for supper… and I had a low fat babybel… Stevie xx

  10. A fab list Stevie – there are quite a few that are also on mine too! We also want to visit Harry Potter World and plan to redecorate the house. Would also love a night away. I am sure you will manage to achieve them all! ;-)

  11. Great list! I did snigger at Brown Willy, I couldn’t help myself :) My goals this year were all around organisation and fitness, though I’m already regretting it. One week in and it feels like bits of me I didn’t know I had are aching, lol. #picknmix

    1. Ha I know that feeling ;) I’m building up gradually fitness wise as I have back and hip issues to be conscious of, but I’m definitely remembering muscles I’d forgotten ;)

      Stevie x

  12. I love your bucket list! I have to admit I have never been to Brown Willy either! Its funny because although I have lived in Cornwall my whole life there are still lots of places I have never been. It puts me to shame really as my husband moved down to live in Cornwall when he was a teenager and he knows more places in Cornwall than I do! Good luck with your list! xx

    1. Same here, I’m good at the meals I can cook well but there are a few I go very wrong on ha! Definitely need improvement,

  13. Hey Stevie, this is a lovely list. Quite a long list, but a lovely one! I am so impressed and inspired by all the fabulous 2016 lists that I have read so far this year. I think I might have to “borrow” one or two from yours for mine this year ;-) Emily #PickNMixFridays

    1. I think when I used it years ago, I probably left it on too long. I’m resisting doing it for now and will see how I cope with growing my hair out eek!

  15. Love your goals. They are very family oriented. I haven’t done a family oriented one yet – only one for the blog. I should do that soon. I think me time & couple time are definitely very important. A visit to the ballet and the spa day sound ideal to me. I love these days. All the best with raising money for JDRF. Big Hugs. Here’s to you & family for 2016! Xxx
