I am Going to Britmums Live #BML16

Last year I watched my social media feeds with jealousy as I saw all the fun other bloggers were having at the Britmums Live blogging conference in London, but this year I am going to Britmums Live #BML16 yay!

Britmums set up a linky every year for people to link up a bit of an introduction post to themselves, as a kind of ice breaker for the bloggers going. After all the majority of us will never have met, although I know I will be seeing a few familiar faces.

I really can not wait. Here are my answers to the mini intro questions Britmums have set.

My name:

Officially – Stephanie Couch, said C ‘oo’ ch not like a sofa…. honestly, oh and by the way I have heard every sofa joke going. However, since my sister could not say my name when we were small, the whole family started calling me ‘Stevie’ which stuck and I am only ever called Stephanie usually when it is something official, or if I am in trouble with any member of my family…

My blog:

Well obviously you know it, as you’re here reading this….. but it’s A Cornish Mum, where I cover pretty much all subjects under the sun minus politics, and sneak as many photos of Cornwall as I can in to make people jealous. Type 1 Diabetes is also a topic I tackle a lot, having a son with Type 1 Diabetes myself.

Find me on social media at:

All my social media icons are at the top right-hand side of my blog, if you want to come follow me anywhere else. In particular feel free to give my Facebook some love, as it’s the one I find the hardest to grow and just to be nice…. you are nice aren’t you? Then *cough* give me a like *cough*.

How I look:

I am only 5 foot 2 tall (very ironic use of the word) so I will be the one either in heels I spend the whole day wishing weren’t torturing me, or the really short one trying to see over things…

So that you recognise me at Britmums, I will of course walk like I need to go to the toilet and flap my arms like a bird….

Is this my first blogging event?:

I have been to a few small blogger events and meet-ups, but this will be my first ever conference or vaguely big event…. in truth I am incredibly nervous, but I will mostly be sticking like a limpet to my friend Donna who knows her away around these things. Also Donna is only an inch taller than me, so if I wear heels and convince her we should both wear flat shoes…. I will instantly look taller.

I will be wearing…

I have not got the foggiest idea…. I have a dress that I would love to wear, that I bought a long time ago which didn’t fit, and with me doing well at Slimming World, maybe just maybe that will be what I wear. If not, then I suspect I will be panic shopping the day before we leave for London.

What I hope to gain from #BML16:

Well I am in the short list for a blogging award at the event and I really hope to be in the final there. I can’t imagine winning, but being a finalist at the event would be pretty amazing.

Mostly though, I am looking forward to meeting so many bloggers that I chat to all the time. The community and social side of blogging has been a revelation for me, and I feel I’ve made friends for life – some of who crazily I have never met, so I am really looking forward to putting faces to the blogs.

My tips for a great conference:

Considering it is my first conference, I have no tips for others attending at all. I will mostly be happy if I don’t get lost on the way there and vaguely recognise everyone from their blog photos.

I will be sponsored to attend Britmums Live 2016 by the fantastic Bosinver Farm Cottages, I am so thrilled to have a local sponsor. Bosinver is absolutely stunning, and I will be doing a proper introduction post to them asap where you can learn a lot more about them. In the mean time pop to the Bosinver Farm Cottages website for  a nose – I challenge you not to fall in love with the place.

See you all at Britmums Live! :)

It’s my first one too and I’m so nervous. I didn’t know about this introduction but will definitely do one. It’s a great idea, particularly for us first timers. Looking forward to it!

Hey Stevie, what a nice post. It’s made me even more excited about going to my first BML conference in June! I’m a newbie so won’t know anyone. Really cool to know about the linky to help break the ice. I’m hoping to go to the Friday night drinks so I can get to know a few faces before the Saturday. Your tips are really helpful. Love your blog! Maybe as my in law family are from Devon so it reminds us of nice family trips down there. If you’d like to say a quick hello on person at the conference let me know! X Sunita http://Luckythings.co.uk P.S. My blog is about 7 months old so any feedback on the site from you or your peeps would be lovely xx

Very jealous! I really want to go someday, although just lately I’ve taken a blogging break so I can’t really justify a trip to London for a blogging conference!

I’ve never been to Cornwall but it’s pretty much at the top of my list and Bosinver cottages look perfect – just what I’d have in mind for a Cornish holiday!

Good luck at the conference, I hope you do well in the awards (which I’m sure you will do anyway!).

I can’t wait to meet you Stevie! It’s going to be such a fun event and day out. As a newbie blogger I’m a mixture of nerves and excitement, I’m sure it’ll be fine when I get there – it’s more the anticipation of it all. Claire x
