Things I have learned this week……
Contact Lenses make me a better person
Added to the list of things that I didn’t know before, is the fact that you can’t roll your eyes at people when you’re wearing contact lenses.
Having only recently started a trial wearing of them, I had no idea that rolling my eyes at one of Simon’s many ‘hilarious’ jokes would result in feeling a little bit like someone had just stabbed a small stick under my eyelid.
Since I can’t roll my eyes, I look like I’m a nicer person at least…. I may have to resist the urge to substitute eye rolling for sarcastic clapping just to keep up the facade. Annoyingly though he is actually funny a lot of the time, just don’t tell him that!
Sunburn is the gift that keeps on giving
Yes at the grand age of 33, I should be beyond the point of being silly enough to get sunburnt. In my defence this was the first time in a very long time and it was mostly because we went on a two-hour boat trip around Falmouth and the Helford River.
Not only has my back been so painful that it has woken me at night every time I accidentally rolled over, but my bra became an instrument of torture all week. I tried to adjust the straps to give me some relief on my shoulders.
All I managed to do was ping the strap against the worst part of my sunburn and possibly teach my children a few new swear words. I am winning at life this week!
As painful as my back was…. it has taken four days to not be agonising… it was so worth it for that boat trip.
Don’t Facebook Live stream when it’s so bright you can’t see the screen
Whilst we were on the boat trip, I decided to be clever and do a bit of Facebook Live for the first time ever, For those of you who haven’t seen or heard of it, it is basically where you film a short video but people can see it live on Facebook whilst you film it.
To me this is asking for trouble for drunk people ha. I wasn’t drunk on the boat, but it was so bright I couldn’t see my screen much, so I cleverly streamed a nice blurry video to everyone. In fact two blurry videos.
You actually CAN over cook pasta
Just when I thought my culinary skills could not get any worse, I managed to over cook what must be the easiest thing in the world to cook. All I had to do was cook some pasta on the hob. I however got distracted and ended up cooking and attempting to eat, what can only really be described as chew-able water.
Maybe I should patent that, a very clever if slightly disgusting invention. I would have taken a photo to show you, but in truth it looked a whole lot like a tape worm…. and no one needs to see that.
My cooking has improved over the years though, it has been more than 5 years now since I last gave anyone food poisoning, I think I should get a certificate for that.
Have you learned anything this week, or made any epic fails you’d like to own up to?!
