When it comes to back to school time, my children are usually fully prepared. Myself, well I’m normally still mourning the lack of lie ins and the sudden need to be rushing around in the mornings again.
Wilkinson Sword challenged me to get myself back to school ready along with the children this year, I accepted the challenge.
I don’t mean that they wanted me to buy myself school shoes, a pretty lunch box and lots of stationery.
Although, you can never have enough stationery. It was more about getting myself organised and ready. Finding those time-saving things that would ease me back in to the school run more easily, and make sure we aren’t running late.
I made sure before school started that the boys were all ready with new school blazers, bags, pencil cases, shoes and emoji rubbers. The emoji rubbers are supposedly essentials, even though they don’t actually rub anything out. My suggestion of pens with no ink to go with them, was met with eye rolls.
When this term started, with Wilkinson Sword’s encouragement I have found my own ways to speed up the morning routine and make myself feel that little bit less manic.
I am laying my own clothes out the night before school now as well as the boys’ clothes. I am actually surprised by how much time it saves me. I don’t have the usual digging through the drawers issues, to find something that actually fits – *I may have been on the pasty diet this summer*. It is all there ready for me.
I am putting the cereal bowls and spoons out for breakfast ready the night before. I am also keeping the boys organised, by writing them a mini checklist for the first few days of school. This is just until we get back in to the swing of things again, but it has definitely kept them organised and moving quickly.
Mostly because if they complete their lists early enough, then they will be allowed to have half an hour of screen time before school. I’m also resisting the lure of my own screens such as my phone until I am at least showered and dressed now.
Wilkinson Sword have helped me personally, by speeding up the time it takes me to shower in the mornings. Their Wilkinson Sword Intuition Ultra Moisture razor is being a big help.
It’s a 3-in-1 razor, that will lather, shave and moisturise you all in one quick action. So there’s no need for shaving gels, creams or shower gel for shaving.
It really does leave the skin on my legs well moisturised and smooth, and in half the time it usually takes me as well. It contains Shea Butter for extra softness and it smells lovely.
Another reason for the speed of the shave is that the Wilkinson Sword Intuition Ultra Moisture has four ultra thin blades. Having these covered in wires, along with a pivoting head means that you can go quickly over your legs and safely. I definitely don’t have time in the mornings to deal with nicks and cuts.
Amazingly this morning, with my newfound organisation skills and quicker shower, I was running so early for school that I had time for a coffee before we left. This never usually happens, and the mornings are never usually as calm as they have been.
One thing I have definitely realised this week, is that I am the reason we usually end up rushing around and almost running late most mornings.
If my new time-saving routine keeps working the way it has, I may even set my alarm for 15 minutes later. On a Monday morning an extra 15 minutes can make all the difference.
