I hadn’t realised until Konfidence offered me the chance to review two wetsuits of theirs for the boys, that they were actually a local company based in Cornwall.
Looking at the wetsuits on the Konfidence website, I would have agreed anyway but I openly admit that I love to work with local companies when I can. The boys were both sent a blue and navy Shortie wetsuit. We headed to the beach at Pentewan at the weekend, taking one of their friends with us to test them out.
I love the look of the wetsuits and although they are obviously meant for children, they look smart enough and grown-up enough for the boys to like wearing them. I also like the fact that they get some UV protection whilst wearing them, so there’s a lot of their bodies I don’t need to remind them to re-apply sun cream to.
I prefer shortie wetsuits, mostly for the ease of getting them on and off. The day that we went to the beach it was hot partly, but with a cold wind that had me putting my jumper back on – traditional Cornish weather that couldn’t make its mind up basically, so the wetsuits definitely got a good test out.
The boys were in the sea for ages playing with their friend and in the river that runs through the beach where we were. For once, there were no complaints at all that they were cold and they stayed in the sea for a lot longer than they do when just in shorts and t-shirts, so the wetsuits were definitely doing their job.
I now want my own wetsuit, so I can comfortably swim and play in the sea with them even on less warm days! They really did have such a fabulous day, after having a paddle up to my knees myself, I relaxed in the sun with Si on the beach and watched the boys laughing and splashing around.
Pentewan beach was especially beautiful looking that day, and the boys had fun on the swings there before we left. I had to jump to get on to a swing myself and then Si found it hilarious to keep pushing it so that I couldn’t get off. It was definitely a day full of laughs and fun. Thank you Konfidence for giving us a good excuse to get to the beach – not that we often need one ;)
I really do recommend the shortie wetsuits, they look great, are brilliant quality, and well the fussy Tweens are willing to wear them, so they must be ‘cool’ or epic or whatever word has replaced cool these days…
