Better With Cake!

I was given the opportunity recently to join in with Mr Kipling Cakes‘ challenge online to find things that are better with cake. I’m not entirely sure how this is a challenge… I was offered some free cakes to help me think, well I do think better with cake!

I also think better with coffee though, so decided I couldn’t be my better with cake thing, even if cake definitely makes me better because it makes me smile. It was actually more of a struggle to think of things that weren’t better with cake to be honest, as  have a very sweet tooth.

My bundle of lovely cakes was delivered just before we headed off to East Thorne (near Kilkhampton Cornwall, an hour away from our home) on a staycation holiday, so I decided to pop them into our rucksack that we use for days out, and see how long it was before I could find a better with cake moment.

I confess I was tempted to make that moment in the car, and eat lots of the yummy cakes for breakfast, but the boys were in the car and I have to be a tiny bit sensible in front of them (spoil sports).

It really didn’t take long to find the perfect moment that was made even more perfect with Mr Kipling cakes. Our first stop on the way to our East Thorne holiday was Tintagel. Tintagel is in Cornwall (obviously) and has many myths attached to it including that it was the birth place of King Arthur and it’s entangled with the Tristan and Yseult love story.

We walked (crossed a bridge and climbed a LOT of steep steps) to the top of Tintagel Castle, and felt like we were on top of the World. There really is no place like Tintagel, and you can really understand where all the myths and legends come from as you stand looking at the World below you.

Now after a long climb, and finally sitting down for a moment and pondering the long walk back up the steep road to Tintagel village, guess what we wanted…no needed, yes cake! Thanks to Mr Kipling we all sat looking at one of my favourite views getting a much needed sugar fix, and a good excuse for a much needed rest! The boys took this time to eat and pose..

So there you have it even being ‘on top of the World’ is Better With Cake!

My pleasure, you had me at the word ‘cake’ although my children did force me to share,

I remember climbing Ben Nevis on a school trip and we sat at the top looking at the view eating cake.

Those views are impressive and a Mr Kipling’s French fancy tops it off. I really must drag the family round Cornwall one summer

I may be a little biased 0;), but Cornwall is obviously the best place to visit ever ;)
