Blog it Forward with Wayfair

Wayfair is a company I love anyway, and I have written a guest post for them before. However, I think I love them a little bit more now for their Blog it Forward campaign.

Basically for every blogger who writes a blog post about a random act of kindness they have performed in the past before 31st December 2015, Wayfair will donate £50 to Habitat for Humanity, who since 1976 have helped over 6.8 million people.

Blog it Forward

“Habitat for Humanity Great Britain helps the poorest and most vulnerable people lift themselves out of poverty by partnering with them to build their homes and communities. With a home comes protection from the elements, from disease and from violence. A decent and secure home provides the foundation for health, education and employment. As a leading international non-governmental organisation focused on shelter, we understand the Power of Home.”   Quote from the Habitat for Humanity site.

Wayfair Blog it Forward

I didn’t have to go out especially to desperately try and find something nice to do for someone. Without trying to sound big headed and like I think I’m wonderful, I do random acts of kindness naturally anyway.

I don’t know if it’s growing up in Cornwall, where there’s a sense of community, but to me it’s normal to do nice things for others even if you don’t know them. I also wouldn’t normally write about or seem to ‘brag’ about things I do for others, but hey this is for charity.

In the last month I have:

Given a £1 coin to an elderly lady who couldn’t find a coin for her trolley at Asda.

Held doors open for countless people…and only tutted loudly at a few who didn’t say thank you.

I’ve taken loads of things to charity shops, or placed them in to special charity bins.

Given review items and items I received as ‘payment’ for blog posts to the Children’s Hospice Southwest, either by popping the item in to them – which I did with a lovely sensory Miffy toy, or by giving them to Si’s lovely nephew Brandon who although only now being 16 has been fundraising for them for over a year.

Helped various bloggers with technical issues and general help and tips they’ve asked for gladly.

Given money to charities that I support.

Helped someone with their pushchair and some steps.

Given my parking ticket to someone else to use when there was still time on it.

There are probably others that will pop in to my head as soon as I hit ‘publish’, but I think hopefully that’s plenty for Wayfair to let me blog it forward!

Thank you to the lovely Jenny at Monkey and Mouse for my #blogitforward nomination, I nominate Clare at Emmy’s Mummy, Hannah from Cupcake Mumma, Lucy at The Parent Game, Vicky at Being Tilly’s Mummy and Alex at Lamb and Bear.

Stevie x

You’ve done plenty of nice things! I always do the parking ticket thing. I’ve given parking tickets to other people or if no-ones around I leave it on the machine. x

Thanks lovely, some car parks have become mean though and use the machines where you type in your registration so that you can’t share your ticket, but I usually do the same as you :)
