Fin was struggling a little bit recently, due to understandably being very fed up being a Type 1 Diabetic. After 6 years and over 9000 injections, I don’t think any one can blame him for that! Anyway Si suggested that he did something positive to take his mind off the bad side and to help in a small way towards Diabetes research, and so Finley’s fundraising has begun! First is the Bean Boozled challenge.
Most people with YouTube addicted children will know what this is, but for those of you lucky enough to be spared having to watch such things, I’ll explain one of the many weird things that people get up to on YouTube.
Bean Boozled is a game, which comes in a special little box full of jelly beans and a spinner.
Now at this point you may be thinking, that this sounds like a very tasty game, but there is a challenge to the Bean Boozled game. You never know what you are actually going to be eating.
To play, you take it in turns to spin the spinner and then you need to eat the coloured jelly bean that it lands on. This gives you a 50% chance of getting a nice jelly bean and a 50% chance of really not. For example with a brown bean, you may get a yummy chocolate pudding one, but then it may be actually be a canned dog food one.
Most people who play the game, play it with a ‘spitting’ bowl close by out of necessity. There are also rotten egg, moldy cheese, baby wipes and all sorts of other ‘delicious’ treats that you may be ‘lucky’ enough to select.
Fin and Harley did the Bean Boozled challenge today, and as you can see from the video below it was definitely a challenge! If you have a weak stomach I would advice not watching.
Poor Fin nagged us for weeks to let him buy Bean Boozled, but I suspect he wont be so keen on it in future. He was a real trooper though carrying on after getting moldy cheese right at the beginning, as was Harley! Harley will be joining in and helping out with a lot of the challenges as that’s what brothers are for…other than fighting with and teasing non stop of course.
I am not surprised Fin was sick in the end, the dog food one actually stank like dog food, so I’d hate to think just how bad it tasted, especially on top of all the other ones they’d both been eating.
If you were impressed with the boys’ efforts, then please do consider making a donation on Finley’s Just Giving page through the link below, all donations will be going to JDRF – Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and any donations regardless of size are really appreciated. I’m hoping seeing the total go up will give him a sense of pride and make him feel like he’s making a difference!
He will be taking on more challenges, and if you can think of a challenge that he could do, then please do comment below with your ideas! He is already planning the ice bucket challenge, and the chubby bunny marshmallow one soon.
