Liked and Loved: August 2018

How on Earth is it nearly September already?! This month has flown by and it’s been a lot of fun, so I have plenty to share in my monthly post about everything that I’ve liked and loved recently.

Wheal Martyn

Towards the beginning of the month we visited Wheal Martyn, which is literally five minutes from our house, but somewhere we’d never been before. It’s such a lovely place for a walk and if you have children there are lots for them to do too! They also make a pretty amazing cream tea with warm scones, we’ll definitely be going there again.

Seeing Family and Beth

This month the boys and I went up to Dudley for a few days to visit family. My Mum and little sisters live near there and my eldest sister has just come home from Turkey and is staying there with my niece and nephew, who I got to see for the first time in at least 4 years!

It was so lovely seeing them all and we had tea with the lovely Beth and one of her daughters on one of the nights too! I thought I’d better remember to mention Beth or she’d tell me off…

Scummy Mummies

I went with my friend Claire to watch the Scummy Mummies this month when they were in Cornwall, and they were hilarious.

Jurassic World and the Equalizer 2

I watched the new Jurassic World film with the boys in an Odeon Dudley and not only was the film brilliant, but oh my word when did cinemas get so posh?! Our local one is a bit of a let down after the squishy leather double seats of the Odeon at Merry Hill! At our own cinema I watched the Equalizer 2 with Si and really enjoyed it, it’s always nice to have an excuse for a bit of a date night too.

We have watched so many fireworks this month, which is ace as Si and I both love them. Our first date was to watch fireworks and we have seen so many displays together. This month we saw the fireworks at Flambards and the British Fireworks Championships in Plymouth.

School Holidays

I absolutely LOVE how chilled out our school holidays have been, lots of lie ins and the boys have been absolute beauts. I don’t actually remember the last time I had to properly tell either of them off, although I am tempting fate by saying that! I’m really not looking forward to early mornings again.

Penrose and The Loe Pool

Whilst working with Burts Chips this month and researching places that I had never been to in Cornwall, I came across Penrose and The Loe Pool. They are near to Helston and Porthleven and the whole area is beautiful!

I hope you’ve all had a great month too?

Sounds like a great month. I lived in Brierley Hill for a while and we called it the Merry Hell Centre. Must have had a makeover because it wasn’t plush and comfy when I was here lol.

Ha! Honestly though, the cinema is seriously posh ;) there were even mini tables that you could rest your food on etc too. Our local cinema you can barely fit your legs in behind the seats in front, slightly less posh or comfy ;)

Thank you and it has been a really lovely month, I so don’t want them to go back to school!

I adore fireworks, you lucky things! I also adore tea and scones (well coffee and scones) so that first picture looks so yummy!

    Beautiful photos.
I have to agree, Jurassic World was AMAZING! I would return again and again to watch it.

It sounds like you had a great month, I too have been enjoying the summer holidays and I am sad they are over. I bet it was lovely catching up with your family after so long xx

Sounds like you’ve had a fab month – how lovely to see your sister and niece and nephew after so long! I love fireworks too, but only if it’s a proper display, not annoying neighbours setting them off in their garden when I’m trying to get the boys to sleep!

Sounds like you had a wonderful month full of beautiful sights and sounds. I agree with you about not liking early mornings.

I’m playing catch up – can you tell?! I thought we had another week of September left…! Whoops. It sounds like you had such a lovely summer and it’s always nice to find new places to explore – it’s funny how often there are places on our doorstep that we’ve never thought to visit. That cream tea looks lush! x
