My Love of Harry Potter and a Giveaway with Hawkins Bazaar

I didn’t discover the Harry Potter books until after I had watched the first film the Philosopher’s Stone. The film was definitely where my love for Harry Potter started!

After watching it, I read the books in quick succession and I have watched all of the films a ridiculous amount of times since. Si doesn’t quite get my love for what he sees as a children’s film, but I love nothing better than curling up with a blanket and a cuppa and losing myself in the magical world of Harry Potter for an afternoon.

Just imagine having magical powers and a wand. I would never have to iron again or cook, just a swish of my wand and it would all be done. I would love to live in the Harry Potter world … minus Dementors and other not so fun things of course!

We visited Warner Studios last year for the first time and it really was fantastic. It was awe-inspiring to see just how much effort went into the films with all the props and special effects. Si was a bit confused at times, since he’s one of the few people on the planet who has never watched a Harry Potter film! Even he couldn’t deny how amazing it all was.

Hogwarts, Harry Potter

We’re continuing the Harry Potter fun soon as we’re off on a review trip to Orlando Studios eek! I am so excited and even more so because it is a Harry Potter fan’s dream come true. I may even get to ride on the Hogwart’s Express! I think I am actually more excited than the boys.

Anyway to get me into the Harry Potter mood – not that that’s difficult – the wonderful Hawkin’s Bazaar have offered a special prize for my readers to win. Hawkin’s Bazaar sell all sorts of Harry Potter gifts perfect for giving to big HP fans like myself, or for treating yourself and as you may have guessed, today’s giveaway is Harry Potter themed and from their Harry Potter range.

Professor Snape is by far the best character in the books. I’m not sure that Rowling knew how much of an impact his character had for a lot of us. His portrayal of love and sacrifice leaves a lot of room for discussion.

  111. Rhia
    7 November 2017 / 9:39 pm

Wow, I’m actually surprised at how many people have picked Harry! Yeah I like him but he really morphed into an angsty teenager in the 5th book and I could have kicked him at times…

Hard to choose my favourites but I think Sirius is up there for me… misunderstood and perhaps a little reckless, but his love for Harry (and James) was so strong even when he was wrongly imprisoned.

Also, I don’t think Hagrid gets the appreciation he deserves- he adored Harry from the very opening chapters and cried as he was left with the Dursleys, told him he was a Wizard and introduced him to Diagon Alley…he was the one above the other characters who really seemed to have a consistent bond with Harry, someone who would make a bucket of tea and was always there to listen and care.

Sorry, this turned into a long post but what can I say, I’m such a nerd when it comes to Hogwarts!
