Monthly Bucket List: August 2017

Time for my Monthly Bucket List post and for me to join in with the MBL linky over at Twinderelmo . Here is my list for August 2017, the things that I hope to achieve and how I got on with last month’s goals.

How I got on with my July 2017 Goals

Plan lots of days out with the boys for the school holidays

We’ve got quite a few plans sorted out, though so far we have mostly enjoyed just relaxing at home out of the rain and watching DVDs! This weekend Si is away on a stag do and I have stupidly agreed to both boys having a friend over for a sleepover on one of the nights. I suspect my weekend will be almost as loud as Simon’s, just with less alcohol.

Give Finley a great birthday

He had a great birthday and is crazily now a teenager! He had a friend to sleepover and we watching the new Spider-Man film at the cinema, which was surprisingly good.

Manage not to cry and embarrass Harley at his Leavers Assembly

I was actually a lot less emotional than I thought I would be at Harley’s Leaver’s Assembly and on his last day at school. I think because he is so happy and eager to start secondary school, he is ready and has so many exciting years ahead of him. So mission accomplished for once I wasn’t embarrassing!

Reach 20k followers on Twitter

I am currently on 20,252 so another one that I managed to do this month. It’s a crazy number really and I mostly post random mumblings on there ha!

Finally write the posts about the boys’ bedroom makeovers

Erm not such a success on this one. This is one that will move on as a goal for August though.

Find a Britmums Sponsor

This one is an utter failure as I am no longer going to Britmums this year. I have jumped ship and I’m trying out the BlogOn conference in Manchester in September instead. I am so excited as not only do I get a bit of a road trip with Donna and Laura, but I also finally get to meet Beth along with lots of other people I haven’t met yet.

My goals for August 2017.

Finally write the posts about the boys’ bedroom makeovers – I honestly will do this soon.

Watch some fireworks – We usually try and go to see some each summer at either Flambards, Lands End or even the National Fireworks Championship in Plymouth.

Use our National Trust memberships – I’m hoping to try and visit a few of the properties in Cornwall that we haven’t been to yet this summer and possibly revisit a few of our favourites like Lanhydrock and Trelissick too.

Keep up with my deadlines – I have quite a lot of work to get done this summer in between spending some quality time with the boys and it means I may need to start setting my alarm for some earlier mornings. The boys tend to lie in, so I’m going to try and work in the mornings whilst they’re still asleep to minimise the effect on my time with them.

Finish our bedroom – We (well mostly Si) have been decorating our bedroom at last and are pretty close to finishing it off. Hopefully by next week the new carpet will be bought and fitted and it will all be done.

Get ready for back to school – The back to school shop will be an expensive one this year, with Harley needing a full school uniform and PE kit. Both boys needing new shoes etc etc. The basic uniform with blazer is over £100 gulp.

Do a car boot – Hopefully this can pay towards the uniform ha! The boys love doing a car boot and we’ve been having a big clear out, so the plan is to do one once the weather starts hopefully behaving itself more.

That’s it, all of my goals for August 2017, there are probably loads more that I should add as this month is going to be a busy one, but that’ll do for now. I hope you all have a brilliant August.

I think this is a great idea and I need to start having monthly goals too. I love living in Cornwall too, but this summer it seems as if there is just a ridiculous amount of traffic around. Enjoy the holidays with the boys.

It does seem even worse than usual doesn’t it?! The boys have extra days off before the October half term, so I’ll look forward to actually being able to enjoy Cornwall a bit more with them then without the stress lol ;)
