Monthly Bucket List

Monthly Bucket List – February 2016

Since it’s February tomorrow (crazy), it’s time for my monthly bucket list. The post I write at the end of every month to set myself some goals for the coming month, and look back to see how I got on with the last month’s goals.

Monthly bucket List

I hope you’ve all had a good month? You can see the good parts of mine in my Things I’ve Liked and Loved this month post for January. So here are the goals I made last month, and how I got on…

Increase my stats and follower numbers

At the end of last month there had been 77731 site views on my blog, there have now been 89558  views to my blog since I started it in January 2015. I’ve pretty much doubled my views compared to my quiet December – phew I was thinking you’d all had enough of me, apparently though you were just busy eating naughty food and enjoying family time like me ;)

My Twitter was at 9832 followers and now I have 10716.

My Facebook page was at 1206 likes, and now has 1311 – slowly but surely it’s growing. Any tips or magic secrets to grow this one, please feel free to say.

Instagram was 4691 now 5313

Pinterest was 4018 and now is at 4079

Youtube – I am adding this one for the first time, as it’s one I want to start working on and doing more videos for – once my current very attractive spotty face clears up. At the moment I have 131 subscribers.

Tots 100 – Last month I was number 80 out of over 8000 blogs, this month I am thrilled to be number 101. I’ve gone down a little bit, but after a very quiet December I expected to drop down by a whole lot more! That’s eight months now of being in the top 200, out of the 12 months I’ve been registered with tots. Wish me luck for next month.

Lose weight – Success at last! So far since I started trying to lose weight at the beginning of January, I have lost 6 lbs. I’m very proud of this, as although it’s come off very slowly it’s steady and staying off. I’m exercising a lot more and feeling a lot better for it.

Dust that poor treadmill off – I have been on the treadmill a bit, though I’ll be upping that this month. Mostly though I’ve been running up and down our stairs (don’t tell the boys as I tell them off for that usually) which is torture, but means my legs are looking more toned already and I’m hoping will improve my stamina on the treadmill.

I’m really hoping to build up to running outside again later in the year, hip and back issues dependent.

Book and organize Harley’s 10th birthday for February – Done. He decided he wanted to do laser tag with his friends at a local soft play place, including food and some time to play. At £15 per child gulp it won’t be cheap as it’s a minimum of ten children there, but he is thrilled and so excited, so it’s worth every penny.

Have a big clean through – Yep I have done this over and over again this month, and yet it doesn’t look like it. Time for another big clean through.

Clean my oven – My most hated job, but I have done it. Admittedly it was yesterday, when I remembered it was monthly bucket list day today, but it has been done. It took hours and I am a teeny bit ashamed of just how dirty it was.

Get organized with my blogging – I am proud to say I have managed this one a lot more so than last year. I have a week to a page planner from Busy B that I am using for planning what post to publish when and I have even been writing in advance for the first time. I’ve even given myself the occasional day off, not as many as I should really but an improvement.

This month my aims and goals are…

As always increase my site views and follower numbers – In particular I want to have reached 100,000 total site views since I started my blog.

Lose another 6 lbs minimum

Give Harley an amazing 10th birthday

Get outside more – the cabin fever keeps kicking in with all the wet weather we’ve been having, we’ve been indoors a lot more than normal. We did have a brilliant day out to Perranporth though.

My Favourite Photo

Catch up with some of my favourite blogs – I won’t list all my favourites here as it’s a long list, but in particular this month I’ve been loving Plutonium Sox by Natalie and What the Redhead Said by Donna, both good blogger friends of mine and I want to make sure I make the time to keep up with their blogs and all my other favourites!

Get to see Mazzie more – This is my poor neglected best friend who I have hardly seen recently. Luckily she’s the type of friend who is fine with that and no matter how long it is in between us seeing each other, it really doesn’t matter as she knows I’m always there for her and vice versa.

Do more youtube videos – This includes learning how to edit videos, as I have no idea what I am doing on that score.

I hope you all have a brilliant February,

Stevie x

Love it all! So glad i found this project via your blog and I have enjoyed making my lists! I wish you well on the youtube videos – its one thing i would love to do but just dont have the guts to! lol

Loving the stats list – its given me the push to try for more too!

  • AmyLovestoSew

Congratulations on some impressive stats! Mine are a little less impressive – I’m new to all this social media and blogging so my goal with Twitter was to reach 100 followers by the end of the month – ha, a little sad, but I got there so that’s something!! Thanks for being my first blog follower too :) Good luck with February’s goals – just signed up to follow you on your various social media channels so that’s a start x

  • acornishmum

Thank you and at the beginning the goals will be smaller, it does take time to grow! My first few months were no where near as busy and as high a numbers as recent months. One tip I have though is to follow other bloggers, and add the word ‘Blog’ to your twitter name (actual name not the @name part) so that other bloggers can spot you more easily. Bloggers tend to follow other bloggers back.

  • Caroline

Fab list. Good luck achieving everyhing this month, I can’t bring myself to brave YouTube, as much as I really want to.

As always you are an inspiration with your stats, well done for all that hard work.

  • Lukeosaurus And Me

Eeep, congratulations on the weight loss! I’m steadily plodding along with that one too, I should probably start aiming towards a specific goal. I need to work on my blog stats too, though my Instagram shot up this month so I’m very happy about that! Absolutely love your photo! Ray x #MonthlyBucketList

  • Donna

You are doing so well with your followers each month and excited to see you getting into YouTube! I’m not sure I have ever heard you speak. How weird is that?! You’ll ace the weightloss too – I’d love to lose another 7lb this month x

  • Hannah

Fantastic stats lovely! A huge well done on the weight loss too despite that big breakfast! I’ve lost nothing keep plodding along I guess!xx

  • Natalie Ray

Thank you so much for the mention Stevie, your blog is firmly on my list to read more next month too. And I also share your goal of getting outside more. We’ve been outside loads this week, it’s the first time we’ve spent a decent amount of time outdoors since my husband’s accident and it’s been wonderful.xx

  • acornishmum

Thanks lovely, I have to confess although I’ve done a few youtube videos already I feel slightly sick clicking publish each time ha it’s like stage fright in the comfort of your own home ;)

    Stevie x

  • acornishmum

Thanks hon, it’s been slow but steady. Well done on you instagram, it’s a nice feeling when followers on any of the social media platforms go up :) Have a great February

    Stevie x

  • acornishmum

Thanks Donna, and ha there are a few of me on there already *cringes* – I’m sure I’ll get more used to it eventually ;) Good luck for your weightloss this month, you’re doing amazingly so far!

    Stevie x

  • acornishmum

Ha if we take the breakfast etc in to account I’ve lost more like 8 lbs this month as I had to lose the bit I put back on to ha ;) Thanks lovely and you can do it just don;t beat yourself up over non loss weeks,

    Stevie xx

  • acornishmum

My pleasure Nat, I love your blog! Being outside really lifts my mood no matter how bad a day I’ve had, especially if I’m outside at the beach.

    Stevie xx

  • Helen

Wow amazing stats and overall success in hitting your goals! I love that you cleaned the oven the day before you were due to ‘weigh in’… good work! x #MonthlyBucketList

  • The Pramshed

Brilliant stats, and great news on the weight loss. Good luck on the running, that is one of my things to do this month and get back into. Your list for January reminds me that I really must clean the oven too. Claire x #MonthlyBucketList

  • acornishmum

Ha definitely my most hated job!! It was getting to be a bit of a health hazard, although to add insult to injury my grill part of the oven has now decided to break! Have a great month :)

    Stevie x

  • Sarah Admissions of a Working Mother

Oh lord I need to clean my oven! Sunday will be the day. Good luck with you YouTube venture – I’ll keep an eye out #PicknMix

  • Robyn

Wow, you were so productive in January, which is such a tough month for many of us, and made progress on every single one of your aims. I’m especially impressed that you got around to cleaning your oven. To be honest I don’t even look inside mine, I just assume it’s self-cleaning (it’s probably not!) All the best for an equally successful February!

  • loveyourlifeandlive

Hi Stevie, I love looking at what you have planned for each month, it’s such a great motivator. I’m totally new to this blogging world and really enjoying it, sometimes I feel as if it’s taking over my life…..
Well done for losing 6lbs, that’s amazing. I met up with a friend this week for a pre birthday lunch, I haven’t seen her for about 4 months, it’s like I saw her yesterday, it’s fab having friends like this.

  • Rachel Bustin

I love your monthly bucket list posts – its great to reflect back on what you have achieved and what you look forward to. Keeping track of my blog stats and followers is something I need to look at so I can see progress, I am guessing that its a great motivation tool! xx

  • Becky, Cuddle Fairy

I had a super quiet December too – I think people are too busy to read blog posts maybe lol Congrats on your follower growth, you are doing amazing! And the page views are fantastic, I’m hoping to increase my page views this year. Thanks so much for hosting #picknmix x

  • acornishmum

Ha I HATE cleaning my oven… and slightly ashamed by the colour of the water from my cloths – plural as it took a lot of them and a lot of scrubbing!

    Stevie x

  • acornishmum

January is usually my most focussed month with the whole new year new start thing…. it never lasts ;) Although Feb is proving to be pretty great so far ha ;0

    Stevie x

  • acornishmum

Thanks lovely, it helps having older children and not working other than my blog I have a lot more time than most to concentrate on it :) plus I lack a social life ha! ;)

    Stevie x

  • laura dove

Haha I’m with you on cleaning my oven, it’s the one job I hate! I always feel like Ive inhaled too much oven cleaner and it makes me all light headed – that’s my excuse anyway!! xx

  • Kirsty

Sounds like a great month with some great plans for February! I have to grow facebook….just not sure whether to spend a bit of money doing so at the moment? #picknmix

  • The Mum Project - Meagan

This is a great idea! I may have to steal the planner for blogging idea to get more organised. I also need to get on that treadmill (had the little one 6 weeks ago, feeling like I need to start getting back to myself)!

On the YouTube videos..if you are recording them on your phone, make sure they are horizontal and you can download an app called ‘Capture’ that is specifically to upload and edit YouTube videos. It is fairly easy to use as well! #picknmix

  • Sara @ Handy Herbs

What amazing stats, Stevie!! Incredible over that short space of time. Well done on the losing weight front too – it is always so difficult to maintain weight loss I think! #PicknMix

  • wendy

Ugh, I hate cleaning the oven too!your stats are amazing, I have no idea how to grow mine that much!good luck with your goal for this month, I hope Harley has a wonderful birthday xx #picknmix

  • Stevie - A Cornish Mum

Thanks lovely, stats are a hard one to control. Visit and follower wise though, if someone asks you to review something that isn’t suitable for your family suggest doing a competition instead if you don’t already, as competitions are brilliant for both.

    Stevie xx

  • Rachel (Lifeathomewithmrsb)

Wow you have been busy! Well done with the increase in stats, i’ve given up on Facebook, i keep forgetting about it! If it wasn’t for my Instagram being linked to the page it would be empty lol! Good luck with you blog goals for this month #PicknMix

  • Beth @ Twinderelmo

Well done on the weight loss and blogging stats and I see you’ve made the top 100 again this month – well done you’re doing amazing
Laser tag sounds awesome and I’m sure they will all just love it. Hope he has a brilliant birthday
Thanks so much for linking up again xxx

  • Leah Miller

Just found this post on #picknmix, it sounds to me like you are doing pretty fabulously with your followers!! But just to help a little I just followed you on Facebook!

Congrats on the weightloss, it is always such an esteem boost, especially at this time of year!

  • Jenni - Odd Socks and Lollipops

Wow another amazing month for you! I love reading your updates – and I can see that you are back in the top 100 again for Tots this month! Well done!
I hope that you can tick everything off for February and well done on the weight loss =)

  • Mum in Brum

Well done Stevie you’re doing so well with your blog and all of your personal goals. I also need to clean my oven – it’s appalling and I just can’t put it off any longer! You’re doing so well with all of your stats, good luck with your youtube x #picknmix

  • Michelle Twin Mum

I think this is a great idea to keep you motivated and focused on the month ahead. You have done really well with boosting yoru follower numbers in just a year blogging, well done. Mich x

  • Jenny Wales with a Little One

Love the idea of doing monthly posts to get organised. Sometimes I make all these goals for the whole year at the start and get a bit lost, its just less scary to break it down into small bits. I am right there with you on Facebook it’s a bit confusing I would also like to know the secret! #picknmix

  • Jenny - Monkey and Mouse

Always impressed by your bucket list! You get so much more done than me, tried planning, but doesn’t always work, depending how the kids feel that day and how many stories they want read. Not such a bad thing really! Hope you manage to keep up with your exercise and blog reading, it’s so hard to do everything isn’t it. :) x
