Monthly Bucket List – October 2015

Since it’s October tomorrow, it’s time for my monthly bucket list! In this post I always set targets for the month ahead, and look at how I did on the previous month’s targets. So here goes…

Monthly Bucket List

Last month I wanted to:

Increase my stats and followers

When I wrote my last bucket list there had been 42950 site views on my blog, as of today there have now been 49832. I’m edging ever closer to my first 50,000 views, which I find amazing.

My Twitter was at 6355 followers and now I have 7468

My Facebook page was at 808 likes, and now has 932, this one is definitely hard work!

Instagram was 2690 now 3211

Pinterest was 3271 and now is at 3497 I kind of forgot to work on this one this month

Tots 100 – I am currently number 170 out of over 8000 blogs, so that’s four months of being in the top 200

Lose weight

I’ve managed this one, I’ve lost 3lbs in the last month. Slow and steady and all that I suppose. Things are definitely going in the right direction though, and my fitness after over a years worth of back and hip issues has improved a lot. I may even be back to running by the end of the year at this rate.

Reorganise our cupboards and drawers

I’m about a third of the way through this, but still working on it. It’s recycling on Friday so I’ll be a busy bunny tomorrow having a good sort out of the rest.

Give Si a good birthday

Si had a lovely birthday in man’s terms. In other words I offered to take him out for a meal or him have the day off from work for a day out, but he preferred me to cook him a special meal. He loved his presents though (phew – men are so hard to buy for!) and he chose gammon with a few extras for his meal.

Birthday Tea

To NOT book any more holidays

Like I have already mentioned in my previous bucket list, we’re off on our fourth mini holiday of the year at the end of this month, but I am pleased to confirm we’ve resisted booking any more ha.

Clear out the boys’ old toys

This one will have to carry over, as their wardrobes and under-bed boxes still need a big clean up. We’ve just instigated a new points system for pocket money though, where they have to earn their pocket money so I’m sure I can bribe them to help with a few points.

I’m glad I’ve achieved some of my goals, although some will definitely need to be continued this month. This month my goals are :

Increase my followers and stats

Lose at least another 3lbs (hopefully more)

Have a tidy house even if it only lasts a day

Pitch for work instead of being lazy and waiting for the emails to arrive

Walk for an hour a day on the treadmill or outside (I’ve been doing this for a week so far and feeling the good effects)

Have a picnic tea at the beach with the boys before the sun disappears again

Reach 1000 Facebook Likes (I know I put followers above, but I want this one especially to work)

Do you like to plan ahead and if so what are your aims this month?

I find Facebook to be such a hard one to increase. I was so pleased to reach 50 FB followers. Twitter seems to be so much easier – kinda grows naturally. I will admit that I’ve stopped looking at my page view stats – too depressing!!

Si’s birthday meal looks like my kind of food! We had gammon last week and I forgot about the pineapple AND the egg! DOH!

Well done on the weight loss – I’ve decided to join Slimming World this month… if I can persuade MIL to come with me to meetings! :) I tried a size 14 trousers on and they’re too tight…. so I’m determined to get back into those comfortably. That’s my goal! Also since having MissMostyn my hips hurt so I think losing some weight would help me there as well.

I’m going to try and concentrate on my FB this month, so if I work out what helps a lot I’ll let you know! It’s a pain though. My right hip is really playing up at the moment and in the mornings my leg keeps wanting to give way…I think the right side of my body thinks it’s 40 years older than the rest of me!

I find Facebook/Pinterest the hardest ,FB just doesn’t happen and Pinterest in all honesty I’ve never really got into. That meal for Si looks fab bet he was well happy with that lol!We love seeing all the photos from your breaks away though xx #picknmix

  • Serena|Mommy Cusses

Wow, I admire all of your goals. I just started this blog and I can’t even imagine how long it will take me to get to where you are with followers and site views, it can be very discouraging. Great job on the weight loss, I know that is NOT easy, especially after kids and with age :( keep it up, momma! Cleaning seems kind of pointless some days, I deep cleaned the other day and right now *looks around* the house is a disaster with craft things and toys. Men, I’m finding, are hard because they’re simple and we think they’re hard. Like what your mister wanted to do and eat for his birthday, just easy stuff and to relax! My husband just had a birthday as well and I was trying to plan all of this cool stuff and when it all fell through he said, “Good, I mean, not good, but I actually would rather to just stay home and relax.” Great post, I’m going to steal your idea and write personal monthly bucket lists :)

  • Laura's Lovely Blog

Well done on your weight loss and your social media stat growth is awesome. Have you thought about writing a blog post on how you do it as I for one would be really interested to read it :) #picknmix

  • Talya

I agree Facebook is so hard – I am crawling towards 400 likes…Twitter just does its own thing. Would love to know what works for you with FB x #PickNMix

  • Gemma @ Confessions of a Nagging Mother

I am so interested in see how you have done this month. I hope you have managed to increase your followers, you certainly seem to be doing well :) Did you start pitching for work? And did it work?

haha to not book anymore holidays! You seem to be the Queen of staycations and I really don’t blame you! i’ve been desperately waiting for winter to come so we can go on some (Jamie is a chef, term time and summer is a no go).

I love reading and setting bucket lists. I always find I reach my goals more. You’ve done so well Stevie. Congratulations of your big blog improvements! :-D xx #picknmix

Pinterest you can grow by following other bloggers, they tend to follow back :) I’m a little addicted to pinterest gives me too many ideas I don’t have time for though! My FB is finally taking off a bit, but I’ve had to work hard at it, and the biggest thing with that is when I run competitions on my blog with ‘visit FB’ as an option on the rafflecopter. and Ha 4 holidays is enough for anyone…though a new year starts in Jan ;)

Ha the idea wasn’t mine originally anyway, usually it’s linked up to a linky over at Twinderelmo, but she was moving house and didn’t have internet so didn’t do her Monthly Bucket List linky, you should definitely join it’s the last day of every month that it goes live :)
Don’t be discouraged at all, I started this blog in January this year, and all it’s taken for me is hard work. I don’t sit back and wait for people to follow me, I start conversations with people online, and I follow other bloggers everywhere as they usually follow back and I find lots of fab blogs to read! Joining in with linkies is definitely a good way to boost visitor numbers and find some new bloggy friends.

I keep meaning to write one lovely lol, I have a ridiculous amount of drafts I flit between! My main tip though is to follow other bloggers as so many do follow back, don’t wait for the followers to come to you x

  • acornishmum

With FB I’ve found liking local pages with my blog and then commenting as my blog account gains me some local followers, other than that when I run competitions on my blog I always use rafflecopter and include ‘visit my FB page’ on there, I get quite a few from that, though some do drop off afterwards. I do find it hard work at times though!

I usually write it on the last day of the month, but I’ll have to see what the signals like on our holiday ;) I can draft but need to do the follower numbers on the day before publishing. I’ve had a good month though so far :) As for pitching…I’ve not actually had the time yet may have to rush a couple this week so I don’t fail that one ;)

Thanks lovely and aw hope you get a holiday soon! We never used to go away so much, and I blame Si they’re pretty much always his idea ;) For the price of a holiday abroad though, we can fit in several at home which I love. I also love going away at this time of year, I’m looking forward to our cosy pod next week as it makes it more cosy when it’s colder outside plus Cornwall isn’t anywhere near as busy so perfect!

  • Sara @ Handy Herbs

Wow to your social media growth!! Congratulations on your weight loss too – it is such hard work isn’t it?! I am trying to improve social media growth too but I am not great at it! I am also aimimg to keep going for walks which I normally give up on when it starts getting colder and darker. #PicknMix

  • Kirsty

I think I need a bucket list actually. I have so many things going on and I love a to do list that I can tick things off when complete. Great to see you are doing well on yours…I suppose by publicising them, it actually means that you try hard to meet them to show the success and progression every month. Facebook is definitely my biggest challenge, it moves by 1 or 2 a week at the moment… #picknmix

  • Lady Nym

Well done. I’m rubbish at growing my followers and stats and I only have Twitter and Facebook. I’m a bit of a technophobe and I’m not very good at putting myself out there so it’s a slooow process. It took me months and months before I even started trying to get people to read my blog as opposed to just writing and sending it out into the ether.

Good luck for the next month.

  • acornishmum

Social media takes more hard work than I ever would have thought and takes up quite a lot of time as it’s rare I use an auto tweeter etc, but the hard work does pay off in the end. I have also found once you have a lot of followers on some social media, you don;t have to work quite so hard as you get seem more and can coast a bit ;)
    Stevie x

  • acornishmum

Beth at Twinderelmo does a monthly linky for the bucket list usually, you should join in :) I do put a lot of pressure on myself by publicising my stats etc, I’ve done it pretty much from the beginning, so I love going back over my old bucket lists and seeing how it’s all grown, and publicising them stops me from slacking ;)

  • acornishmum

Thank you and before blogging I didn’t use any social media, so it’s been a learning curve for me as well! Instagram is a lot of fun if you decide to try a different one,

  • Ashleigh

I think i should start one of these myself every month as i always say im going to do something but i never get around to it. Maybe if i put it on my blog it puts more pressure on me to get it done. There’s quite a few on your list i may have to pinch actually! #PicknMix

  • Mum in Brum

Well done on reaching almost 50,000 site views that’s amazing!! Si’s birthday meal looks fab – I don’t think you can beat a plate of home cooked grub. I need to write more bucket list they’re such a great way of reaching your goals #PickNMix

  • acornishmum

Thanks hon gone a bit past that now ;) My next bucket list is almost due crazily, I can’t believe how fast the month goes! I always do it on the last day of the month or 1st day of the next month to link up with Beth at Twinderelmo. It definitely keeps me focused!
