My Christmas Party Wish List

Are you off to a Christmas party this year? I’ve been reading all over social media lately about people’s plans for their work Christmas parties, and I have to admit I am a little jealous being defunct of even one Christmas party this year.

Christmas Party Wish List

Being self-employed and working at home, the only way I will get a Christmas party is if I throw my own party for one. Although I sometimes feel like the poor local parcel and post men (not being sexist here, just pretty much always have male ones at our house) do feel a little like they work for me, with the amount of times they have to knock on my door each week.

However rather than throw my party for one plus a few random delivery people, I will just enjoy the fact that I won’t have a post party headache to look forward to, and won’t be embarrassing myself in front of anyone whilst drunk.

I have however still been drawling over Christmas party outfits, and who knows maybe in the future I’ll have somewhere to dress up for. Here’s a little insight my work Christmas party wish list and of course my dream outfit.

The dress….

Ted Baker at M and M Direct

This is one of many Ted Baker Dresses at M and M Direct¬†and I’m in love with the colour of it. It’s very slinky looking so I’d need to make sure I upped my planking for a while before hand, but it’s a little bit sexy whilst still being elegant. The perfect combination in my eyes. I would choose a slighter thicker belt for it though, and most likely a little sparkly shrug.

The Venue…

This part is easy, I went to a ‘Tweet up‘ at the Carlyon Bay Hotel Golf Club earlier this year with the lovely local people that join in with Cornwall Hour (#cornwallhour) every Wednesday night, and it was absolutely beautiful there. I can imagine myself and my imaginary work mates would love it there.

This is the view as you relax outside.

The Drink(s)…

This would have to be the sparkling cider champagne I tried the last time I was at The Carlyon Bay Hotel Golf Club, it was absolutely delicious and I am planning to track some down for Christmas Day this year. It’s just the four of us for Christmas dinner, but why not do it in style?

Plus you can’t get much more Cornish than Cider – although I know Fin would happily have a pasty for Christmas dinner to help him avoid the green vegetables!

The Music…

This would definitely be Hello by Adele, All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor, Yours by Ella Henderson and a little bit of cheese with It’s Raining Men by The Weather Girls – one I have never been able to resist dancing badly to after a few drinks.

The Morning After…

No hangover, no embarrassment over falling over or saying something inappropriate and no desperate need for greasy food – well this is an imaginary party after all.

So there you have it this Saturday in my head I will be wearing a drop dead gorgeous Ted Baker dress from M and M, sipping sparkling cider at The Carlyon Bay Hotel Golf Club whilst listening to some of my favourite songs and looking out at the gorgeous sea view.

In reality I will most likely be watching X Factor whilst working on my blog and claiming that I’ll be shutting the laptop in a minute….that’s a Mum minute by the way, which is scientifically proven to be longer than your average minute and much more filled with nagging and claims of “he hit me first”.

Enjoy your Christmas parties….I’m honestly not at all jealous

Love this! It nearly seems real and it sounds like an amazing night, all the details are just right :) No work Christmas party for me this year either, I wonder what I’d be wearing to my dream one though…!

Aww Stevie. You can come to one of my parties. I’ve had/got 5 in total and they are so much fun, but I feel so knackered after each one. I’ve had 3 this week alone. Luckily one of them was a lunch, so not a late one. But my feet are still killing from the two before that. Although I’ve only got myself to blame – high heels and lots of dancing.

I think Christmas parties can be really fun if you get on really well with who you are partying with, otherwise it’s a chore. I’m very lucky that I get on so well with my work colleagues and choose to socialise with them anyway.

Hope your imaginary Christmas party is fun. Why shouldn’t it be if you are the architect! I’m going to enjoy a quiet night in tonight with my feet up, minimal cooking effort and watching catch up TV.

I wrote a post about the pros & cons of being a stay & work at home mum this week and one of the cons was lack of Christmas party. That has to be one of the biggest downsides of being self employed! There’s no-one to reward you for all your hard work with a night out and a drink or two! #picknmix

Haha – great concept! I will be probably be watching x factor too, so I will have a chuckle when I think of you thinking…
Oh and I think I would need to up my planking for more than a while to wear that stunning dress! Great choice though :) #PicknMix

Wow no wonder your feet have been hurting! Enjoy the rest of your parties, I’ve got a dose of my son’s lurgy now so I’ll be enjoying an early night and flu plus tablets this weekend – very rock ‘n’ roll ha!

Unfortunately I don’t have a christmas party to go to either – sobs – but I do LOVE that dress. The colour and cut is just stunning. I get terrible hangovers though so as you said – at least I won’t have that to look forward to. #PicknMix

  • acornishmum

I’m the same with the hangovers, I even seem to get them before the end of the evening now if I drink too much – I’m obviously getting too old for it ha ;)

I do miss Christmas nights out, although often the thought of them was better than the actual event. We all order online here (in a house with four adults and two teens) so the number of deliveries a day is ridiculous!

  • Jessica Powell

I love that dress! Perfectly suitable for watching X-Factor in, if you need justification ;) We had our work Christmas dinner at the end of November… I needed a few drinks just to get through it! x #picknmix

  • Christine

I’m not Christmas partying this year either although I have been out for a Christmas meal with friends. Sad to say that I actually quite enjoy an evening in, eating a takeawy, drinking wine and reading/writing blogs (which is exactly what I’m doing right now). #picnmix

  • Natalie

Wow the view of the golf club is amazing, looks like my kind of place. As for the music, what Christmas party isn’t complete without a bit of cheese?!

  • Julie Downes

Lovely Christmas dress. I’ve only been to my husbands works party this year, where I didn’t know anyone and I chose to drive (so no help from alcohol). Not the best Christmas party I’ve ever been to!!! #picknmix

  • acornishmum

I can just imagine! My boyfriend is forever buying new tools and things off ebay so I get all excited about a parcel and then it’s a new tool ha ;)

  • acornishmum

If that’s sad I’ll join you in being sad ;) I have to admit although I love the chance to dress up occasionally I am definitely a home body, and pjs by 8pm is usually more my style!

Stevie your Christmas party sounds perfect! :) And THAT dress! No reason why this party can’t happen in real life! One day!!! :)

  • wendy

This Christmas party sounds amazing. That dress is gorgeous and I particularly like the sound of the venue and the champagne cider. I don’t have a job so no party for me, it’s probably a good thing though because when I was working last year the Christmas party got a bit out of hand..and I had to work the next morning. A night in with the TV sounds good to me xx #picknmix

  • Cheryl @ ReimerandRuby

What a dress to die for… I have not attended any Christmas party this year at work either because having it in the same venue seemed boring. Also, I don’t really drink alcohol so I only enjoyed the dancing bit but not the drinking. I burst into laughter at the ending of your post, the “he hit me first” claims as it’s also overused at our home, lol #PicknMix
