My Favourite Christmas TV adverts.
I love this time of year, with the lead up to Christmas. Everything always seems that little bit more exciting and even television tends to improve.
Snuggling up to watch a Christmas film is one of my favourite things to do once it is vaguely acceptable to be putting the Christmas tree up. With the tree lit, a blanket over myself and my favourite people and something great to watch on television … perfect.
Normally when we watch television, the adverts are something to fast forward through or a time to pop to make a cuppa. At Christmas though, even the TV adverts get better. Over the years there have been some fantastic adverts around the festive season. Sadly some I couldn’t find on YouTube, but below are five of my favourite ones.
The M&S Christmas Advert for 2016 – Christmas with love from Mrs Claus. I love this advert, it is my favourite one so far this year. For once it isn’t just Father Christmas having all the fun, Mrs Claus is getting in on the act and arguably outclassing the jolly one.
John Lewis Christmas Advert 2014 – #MontyThePenguin. I fell a little bit in love with Monty when this one screened two years ago. I suspect there were a lot of parents having to explain to their children just why they could not have a penguin for a pet too. Just seriously cute and it made me smile every time it came on.
Holidays are Coming – Coca-Cola. This one has been around for years and it always ‘feels’ like Christmas when it comes on. I hate to think what that says about how commercialised it has all become, but hey I love Coke Zero and I love Christmas and that song gets stuck in your head.
John Lewis Christmas Advert 2011 – The Long Wait. This one reminded me of being a child and how slowly the time used to seem to go when I was waiting for Christmas Day. The boy in it is so sweet as well, especially for the reason he was waiting so impatiently. You can see below what I mean.
Sainsbury’s OFFICIAL Christmas Advert 2015 – Mog’s Christmas Calamity. Last year it was Mog who had me smiling whilst watching the Sainsbury’s advert.
*Edit* No idea how I forgot this one as it is actually my favourite one of all time … the John Lewis The Bear and The Hare from 2013!
I was wracking my brain trying to think of my favourite Christmas TV ads for this post and I am sure I have forgotten some corkers. What have your favourite Christmas TV adverts been over the years?
