Nail HQ – Mum’s Me Time.

This is my review of Nail HQ products, and the start of my ‘Mum’s Me Time’ section of the blog!

Like every Mum I know, my children come first, I do everything that I can for them and with them, and I always want the best for them. I’m the same with the other member of our little family Simon, my ‘better half’ according to him!

In fact, the only person in the house that I never put first, and who I woefully neglect is….me. I’m a Mum, a girlfriend (and fantastic blogger obviously), but also a person, and a woman and sometimes I need to feel more like a woman than any of these other roles.

I’ve made a fourth month resolution (it’s a real thing honestly 0:) ) to remember to look after me more, and to take a little bit of time occasionally to do something just for me, whether that’s a pampering session, a massage (I have never had one of these, nor any sort of beauty treatment from a professional!) or just simply to read a book!

I was recently sent some Nail HQ products to try out, and I decided I was start my first Mum’s Me Time with a nail pampering session. I was sent a nail strengthener, nail growth, and a cuticle oil to try.

Nail HQ

When it comes to nails, I have an awful record. I was a nail biter for the first 28 or so years of my life, and have only kicked the habit in the last four years, I have had acrylic nails that have been accidentally ripped off (ouch) rather than removed properly, and I have neglected my nails for years. All of this added up to some shoddy looking hands, easily breaking weak nails, and me never purposefully showing off my hands.

Unfortunately because of this aversion to showing off my hands, and I’ll be honest my lack of belief in the products to really help that much, I have no before pictures, but this is how my nails look now..

My Nails

I’ve been using the Cuticle oil (this contains all sorts of lovely vitamins and nutrients) twice a week which really moisturises and conditions my nails and cuticle area, I’m sure it’s even making my hands look younger! Just a shame I suspect it’s a little too greasy for my face!

Every other day I use the growth varnish, which I love as it’s actually moisturising, which my nails were in desperate need of. It contains Biotin for strength, although I have also been using the strengthener as a ‘top coat’.

With these treatments, I finally have nails that I’m not embarrassed to show off, breakages are becoming much rarer, I’ve gotten rid of an issue with a peeling (sounds gross) nail on one hand, and this will sound sad, and no doubt set some feminists off, but I feel more feminine!

I am going to carry on looking after my nails, as I really love how they look even without acrylics any more, and even better for once I’m using something on my nails that doesn’t just make them look lovely and shiny (which they really do!), but is also looking after my nails, and making them stronger.

Thank you Nail HQ for my lovely parcel, you’ve started something now though, I need more pampering and I will definitely be making the time for a little more Mum’s Me Time.

*I was sent these products for an honest review – which is the only type I ever agree to do. Nail HQ products are available to buy at Tesco and Amazon.

I don’t look after my nails but my 16 year old daughter is mad about nail products and really takes care of hers. She could do with something like this to protect her nails instead of just painting hers pretty colours xx

Definitely a good idea Dawn! I’m going to use it as undercoat on my toenails even, as I usually wear bright red on them all summer, and they tend to suffer a bit an dhave a real pink tinge by the end of the season!

Your nails look lovely! I go through phases of taking care of my nails & neglecting them. It’s nice to make time for yourself!
