A Night at The Lands End Hotel in Cornwall

It isn’t often that we have a child free night away but, last month we did just that and stayed at The Land’s End Hotel down here in Cornwall.

Land's End Hotel

I treated Si to dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel as a late birthday present. We actually had our first official date at Land’s End to watch the fireworks, so it’s somewhere that’s a bit special for us. Well special to anyone really who has been there, as it’s beautiful down there.

I went there as a child and we’ve taken the boys lots of times. The 4D cinema experience there is fantastic, as are the fireworks that they do every year. This time though we didn’t go down there and go in any of the attractions, we went for a ‘date night’.

Everyone was so welcoming and friendly there, especially the receptionist who checked us in to our room. On the way to our room we went through a really cosy looking lounge area.

Our room itself was just perfect, the bathroom was really modern and the room itself was spotless and so inviting.

Then to top it all off we got the sea view that we’d asked for, this is what we could see through our bedroom window. You might recognise part of our view from the top of this site, as my header image is actually the Longships Lighthouse at Land’s End. One of my favourite views.

I almost didn’t want to leave the room but, we did go downstairs to the bar to eat. The food there was really good, I have no photos of it as I was too busy eating and chatting to Si. We stayed in the bar afterwards and had a few drinks. Their Cornish Bramble gin cocktail was really good. I love how even after over 7 years together now, we still have so much to chat about and make each other laugh so much.

A little bit too good as when I woke up in the middle of the night and went to the bathroom, on the way back my slightly tipsy head forgot there was a step down from the hallway into the bedroom and I ended up in a heap on the floor. Very dignified – did I mention the gin was good there?!

It was funny at first but, I did actually managed to jar my dodgy hip and back and so ended up having to sit up in bed to sleep for the rest of the night in agony. Not quite the relaxing overnight stay I was hoping for ha! The bed was really comfy though and Si managed to sleep through all but my initial graceful flying through the air escapades.

We slept with the curtains open and when we woke up in the morning we could see the sea, which was wonderful and more than made up for my painful night. Sleeping in a hotel room where I could see the sea from my bed was actually one of the things on my Forty before 40 list!

We paid a teeny bit extra each to be able to have our breakfast in bed and it was just perfect sitting eating a pretty amazing breakfast whilst looking out at the sea. The breakfast would have been full blown amazing but, the scrambled egg wasn’t great. I was pretty jealous of Si’s fried egg which was apparently ‘perfect’.

I would definitely recommend the Land’s End Hotel for a stay, we would love to go back at some point again. Just mind the step if there is one in your room ha!

We stayed in a Superior Double Room with Seaview, if you fancy it yourself then you can see more information on The Land’s End Hotel website.

Oh no what a shame you fell. Love that you slept with the curtains open so you could see the sea when you woke up. What an amazing view and it looks a gorgeous hotel. Hurrah for child free nights, we love going away just the 2 of us even after 17 years of marriage x

It was just typical me to be honest, I am so clumsy! It was still wonderful though :)
