Smartening up my Wardrobe with Petit Bateau

I was recently offered the opportunity to review an item of clothing of my choice from the Petit Bateau website.

Petit Bateau is exactly the style I always admire on others, smart casual with a slight quirkiness. I have realised that in recent months, with being unhappy about my weight, that I have also been dressing in the same old clothes and constantly in black to try to hide a few sins.

The extra weight plus the dowdy clothes, were making me feel worse. I’ve so far lost 6 pounds on Slimming World¬†and I am making the effort more with my clothes now…. well on days when I leave the house anyway. I am currently sat under a blanket with a hoody jumper on – with the hood up. In my defence it is freezing today.

It was perfect timing for Petit Bateau to contact me, and I chose the Women’s long-sleeved sailor striped t-shirt from the Petit Bateau website.

Petit Bateau top

The Petit Bateau site was full of temptation for me, as I have a real thing for stripy tops and jumpers. I really do like the nautical look, I wonder if that comes from being Cornish? I hate photographs of myself, but I had to include one really. I’m pretty proud that there is less of me to photograph now!

Petit Bateau Me

I might even smile in future photos! Just ignore the camera remote control in my hand, this is my version of a more grown up way to do selfies than a selfie stick.

I love the way the top feels when it is on, you really can feel when something is an item of quality clothing. The white is also perfect for the summer days, when it isn’t quite warm enough to get your arms out or for a breezy walk on the beach. There’s that nautical theme again, in fact the photo below shows a bit more nauticality (that is a word…. honestly… even if only in my mental dictionary), with anchors on the buttons.

Petit Bateau Buttons

These buttons are to me, that little touch of quirkiness I admire in other’s style. I’m going to keep on trying to smarten myself up a bit, it really does give my self-confidence a boost.

My new top from Petit Bateau has been a good start to that, and I really do love it. It is perfect for going over the top of my jeggings or skinny jeans, and it is an amazing muffin top hider…. I was trying to think of a ‘classier’ way to say that, but I’m not sure muffin-top will ever be a classy thing.

I think possibly Si should hide my debit card, as I am now headed off to the Petit Bateau site for another look….

What a lovely top! I’m quite a fan of stripes myself.

Well done for your weight loss! Some nice new clothes are always a great reward for the hard work.
