Photos of Cornwall – St Piran’s Day Edition

Happy St Piran’s Day everyone! Since it’s a special day in Cornwall, I decided to do an extra Photos of Cornwall this week. I usually invite others to answer some questions and share their photos, but to celebrate St Piran’s Day I’m going to do my own Photos of Cornwall today!

My Favourite Photo
My most favourite photo of my favourite people taken at Perranporth.

Stevie (Stephanie Couch – C ‘oo’ ch not like a sofa just so you know)

Blog Name:

A Cornish Mum

What brought you to Cornwall – if you don’t live here?:

Obviously by now you all know that I live here. I was born in Cornwall and I have never lived anywhere else, nor wanted to.

Pentewan Trail Cornwall
Pentewan – one of my favourite places

Where is your favourite place in Cornwall?:

This is such a hard question for me (serves me right for writing it) , but I have a few definite contenders. Tintagel, Land’s End, Bedruthan Steps and Pentewan. The last one Pentewan, is the place that is closest to me geographically and also the one I spend the most time at. I love that I can go for a walk through the woods, along a river and on a beach all in one walk.

What camera/mobile phone do you usually use for you photos?:

Pretty much always my Samsung Galaxy S5, although it is on it’s last legs and I’m hoping it will last til my contract ends in the summer! It really does have an amazing camera on it, and pretty much all my blog photos have been taken with it, or with Simon’s phone which is the same type.

Bedruthan Steps - Carnewas
Carnewas – Bedruthan Steps. One of the most beautiful places in Cornwall.

If you could take a photograph of anyone or anywhere in the world, where or who would you choose?:

Tempted to say Hugh Jackman ha, but I’ll be good and say a more ‘Mum’ type well behaved one. I would love to take a photograph of my boys at Harry Potter World – mostly because they really wan to go and we have plans to hopefully this year, and partly as maybe then they’ll stop nagging me about going.

Describe Cornwall in a maximum of three words:

Home, friendly, beautiful.

Longships Lighthouse
Longships Lighthouse – Lands End

Pasty or Cream tea?:

Pasty, but only just and I’d happily have the cream tea for dessert after a pasty. Being St Piran’s Day we are obviously having pasties for lunch, not home-made as according to Simon my cooking sometimes could be classed as cruelty to children.

If you could be anywhere in the World right now doing anything, what would you be doing and where?:

Since it’s my question I am going to cheat and say two places. Either in Canada in a log cabin on holiday getting ready to head out to see the Northern lights, or since it is freezing today on a beach somewhere nice and hot listening to the sea.

Autumn at Eden Project
Autumn at the Eden Project

Please tell me a random fact about you?:

I knew this question which most people so far have hated would come back to bite me in the bum ;) I’m going to cheat again and give you a few.

I did a charity sky dive years ago and absolutely loved it, I have a tattoo and I can’t ride a bike.

This is the bit where I usually thank the person I have interviewed, but today that would just be weird.

I think my favourite photo is the last one. You must have so many beautiful photos of Cornwall, no idea how you narrowed it down! x

  • Natalie Ray

Your photos are amazing. I’m comforted that you take them on your phone, most of mine are phone photos too. I thought you were Couch like the sofa, good to know. And I’m a bit shocked that you can’t ride a bike! Haha ;)

  • Laura @dearbearandbeany

Stunning photos :-) I have been to Harry Potter Studios, I was heavily pregnant with my eldest daughter at the time and it was fab! Good to know how to pronounce your surname, I bet you correct people all the time :-) x

  • Amy

I love your photos. I used to go to Cornwall every year on holiday so have lovely memories of my childhood from there. #PickNMix

  • There's always time for tea

These photos are amazing! Cornwall is definitely happening next year! #picknmix

  • Mess and Merlot

I love Cornwall, I just wish it wasn’t so far away from Bedfordshire!! I’ve been a few times but we’ve never been as a family so hopefully the kids will soon be up to the mammoth car journey and we can plan a little holiday! Nice to learn a bit more about you – thanks for the tips :) #Picknmix

  • Jodie Allen at Makeup to Motherhood

I cannot believe all these photos were taken on your phone! Amazing stuff! And go you for the skydive! I have always wanted to do one but I worry that I will panic and not go through with it once I am up there! #PicknMix

  • The Pramshed

Beautiful pictures Stevie, and Happy St Pirran’s Day to you. I love Cornwall but have only been a few times, as it’s a bit of a trek from London. Have a great weekend, thank you for hosting. Claire x

  • Midgie

We all love Cornwall, its our annual summer holiday, at Easter! Its lovely living so close to the beaches and woods, we have the same here, just to get out and get some fresh air! We always come down at Easter because the weather is usually warm enough but its still fairly quiet! These pictures just make me want our holiday to get a move on and arrive quicker. I NEED my quiet yearly afternoon on Polzeath Beach just to sit & chill out and then we can have the rest of our ‘lets cram everything in before we go’ holiday!

  • Kathy @ Hopes, Dreams and Chocolate

Ahh love this edition of your series :-) Stunning photos. I am determined that next year’s holiday is going to be in Cornwall!! It’s been years since we visited the Eden Project, and I really want to take my girls. I think it is so nice to see you so proud of where you were born and raised and always lived. Bet it’s gorgeous down your way in Spring?! Thanks for sharing. Kathy x #PicknMix

  • Elaine @ Entertaining Elliot

Harry Potter studios is brilliant, hope you get to go one day! Love the pics of Cornwall especially the top one. We always seem to end up in Devon and haven’t visited Cornwall in a few years, I bet my little boy would love all the beaches though!

  • Min

Gorgeous photos. I love that first one at Perranporth. I’ve been there on holiday, and it’s fab. Love the energy in that photo. For me, I’d have to take a cream tea over a pasty though! #picknmix

  • Silly Mummy

Lovely pictures – the running one is amazing! I don’t know all the places you mention, but I really like Tintagel. Also I really, really want to go to Harry Potter World as well, so if you wouldn’t mind taking me too… ;) #picknmix

  • Mum in Brum

These are such stunning photos – you really can take brill snaps on your phone today – I have a samsung note 4 and the quality is ace. I love your passion for Cornwall, it really is such a beautiful part of the country. I would also love to go Canada and stay in a log cabin – my idea of bliss! #picknmix x
