My Photos of Cornwall section is really turning out to be my favourite one on my blog. Not only do I get to show my readers the beauty of Cornwall through photos, but I get to enjoy it all over again myself. I have to admit to some serious skill envy about today’s feature from Darren Strick though!
He was lovely enough to email me some photos and answer my interview questions very quickly this week, and when I opened my email I couldn’t help smiling at what he had sent!
Name: Darren Strick
Occupation: Market Research Professional
Are you Cornish and if not what brought you to the best place in the World?: Yes, born and bred.
Where is your favourite place in Cornwall and why?: I’m lucky to have a great view of St Michael’s Mount and it’s always been a landmark that I associate with ‘home’ – when I was away at university I knew I was home when I saw the Mount in the distance. It also happens to be very photogenic!

Pasties or cream tea?: Pasty…..and then a cream tea for afters.
What’s your favourite photograph you’ve taken and why?: That’s a tough one but I’d have to say the Land’s End Sunset I shot in late March this year – It was a beautiful spring evening and although the picture would have you believe it was warm, I could barely feel my fingers. It was well worth it though to capture the sun setting behind Longships Lighthouse.

If you had to only eat one food for the rest of your life what would you choose?: Easy, and predictable – Pasty, morning noon and night, no problem!
If you could take anyone in the World’s photo who would you choose?: The elusive and enigmatic graffiti artist ‘Banksy’ – I love his street art and his satirical, dark humour. What a coup that would be!
What camera do you tend to use?: Nikon D3300
Do you have any tips for novice photographers?: Take as many photos as you can and don’t be afraid to experiment! Auto settings are fine to start with but photography really gets exciting and fun when you learn how aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc. work. I actually only took up photography seriously about 18 months ago and I’ve come on leaps and bounds by just playing around.

Darren amazingly doesn’t have a website where he sells his photos and services, although his photos do get featured all over the place and personally I think he really should start one! If you want to see more of Darren’s photos then you can ‘like’ his Facebook page and follow him on Twitter.
Thank you Darren, and predictable as well, but I could happily only eat pasties too!
