Photos of Cornwall – Mummy Travels

Welcome to another addition to the Photos of Cornwall section, one of my favourite sections of my blog! This is the section where I publish Photos of Cornwall interviews along with photos taken by other people. I love seeing my county through other’s eyes.

The Photos of Cornwall Interview

Name:

Cathy Winston

Blog Name:

Mummy Travels

Fistral

Fistral Beach – Newquay

What brought you to Cornwall – if you don’t live here?:

I’d been invited to do a hotel review of The Sands resort in Newquay, and jumped at the chance – I love Cornwall and have visited more times than I can count over the years so couldn’t wait to give my daughter her first Cornish experience!

Where is your favourite place in Cornwall?:

Tintagel – there’s something about the dramatic coastline in the north and the ruins there which I can’t get enough of. But pretty much any of the north coast beaches.

What camera/mobile phone do you usually use for your photos?:

Either my phone (currently a Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini) or my Canon DSLR depending how much I’m carrying around.

Towan Beach - Newquay

Towan Beach – Newquay

If you could take a photograph of anyone or anywhere in the world, where or who would you choose?:

The temples of Bagan in Burma. The country has been on my bucket list for years and I had to cancel a trip when I became pregnant, so I’m dying to get there.

Describe Cornwall in a maximum of three words:

Sunny, wild, ice-cream!

Pasty or Cream tea?:

Pasty (or both if I can get away with it)

Falmouth - Cornwall

Falmouth – Harbour Lights

If you could be anywhere in the World right now doing anything, what would you be doing and where?:

After endless rain and cold, I would happily settle for anywhere sunny or hot where I can relax, explore and generally feel warm again. If I could pick anywhere, a tour of the Far East (including Vietnam and Cambodia as well as Burma) would top the list.

Please tell me a random fact about you?:

I once zipwired across an Italian mountain valley at around 90 mph.

Thank you Cathy, I love your photos especially as you’ve included one of my favourite Fish and Chip restaurants!

Thanks for sharing these – brought back some very happy memories going through them all. Hoping to get another trip to Cornwall soon (and some pasties perhaps). Love the fact I ended up taking a photo of one of your favourite fish and chip restaurants totally by chance! :)

Great photos, I have lovely memories of fistral bay. I’m a bit shocked that anyone would choose pasty over cream tea if I’m honest though

I love Cornwall being from Bristol we used to go there a lot for but since moving to the midlands and having 2 small babies the 4 hour drive has scared me a little! That being said fistral bay has just been listed in the trip advisor top 10 beaches – you can see why in that photo, we may just have to man up and deal with the drive! Lovely photos #PicknMix xx

Cathy has taken some lovely photos of cornwall! I have to agree with the pasty over the cream tea too! You can’t beat a proper cornish pasty #picknmix

Lovely photos, making me wish for the sunny days to hurry up. What a great idea to have other people talk about your home place, and a lovely place Cornwall is. x

Gorgeous photos! And, omg, one brave lady – I like the thought of zip wiring, until I actually get close and can see it all! x #picknmix
