Photos of Cornwall – The Cornish Zebra

Welcome to another addition to the Photos of Cornwall section, one of my favourite sections of my blog! This is the section where I will be publishing Photos of Cornwall interviews along with photos taken by other people. I love seeing my county through other’s eyes.

What brought you to Cornwall – if you don’t live here?:
I grew up in Cornwall but left when I was 21 in search of big cities and bright lights. After some time in London I settled in Brighton where I eventually had my little girl – the Zebra.

By the time she was 9 months old, my relationship with her dad broke down past repair and I found myself 29, unemployed, single and living back with my parents in Cornwall. It was the best thing to ever happen to me!

Where is your favourite place in Cornwall?:
As a teenager I always loved Hemmick beach and spent many a night camping out on the beach, bundling fires and midnight swims. I also often went walking around Crowdy reservoir up on the moors and loved the strange rows of trees as you drive in.

It was the first place I took the Zebra when we came to Cornwall! I am looking forward to rediscovering so many places with the Zebra and being able to appreciate the beauty now I am older.

What camera/mobile phone do you usually use for your photos?:
I have an iPhone 6

If you could take a photograph of anyone or anywhere in the world, where or who would you choose?:
My only regret as I approach the end of my 20’s is I never did the travelling thing. I can’t help but feel jealous when I saw friends photos of the Bolivian salt plains, or the twisted trees growing out of temples in Thailand and miles of golden sandy beaches in Australia.

I would love to take a photograph from the top of Machu Picchu. Yes, it may be one of the most photographed places on the South American backpacking trail, but at least it would mean I’ve taken that adventure and ticked a massive box off my bucket list.

Describe Cornwall in a maximum of three words:
Beautiful, wet, home

St Michael's Mount

Pasty or Cream tea?:
Cream tea every time.

If you could be anywhere in the World right now doing anything, what would you be doing and where?:
Home really is where the heart is, so as long as I have all the family around me I would be happy! And if there’s a couple of bottles of Prosecco there, all the better!

Please tell me a random fact about you?:
My claim to fame is serving a fish pie to Will Young

Thanks for sharing Abi!
