Pieces of You by Ella Harper – My Book Review

I recently won a copy of ‘Pieces of You by Ella Harper from Avon Books in an online Twitter competition. When it arrived, I was impressed by the colourful cover, and the quality of the print. “The perfect marriage. A devastating secret. An impossible choice.” on the front of the book made me want to delve deeper and find out what the secret was, but don’t worry I won’t reveal it and ruin the book for you!

Pieces of You

The blurb on the back of the book is as follows….

Lucy. I don’t even know how to

start this letter.

Something happened.

Something terrible…

Lucy was always sure of one thing  – her future with husband and soulmate Luke. But after eight long, heartbreaking years trying to have a baby, that future is crumbling before her eyes. When a terrible accident puts Luke into a coma, Lucy is forced to reassess everything she thought she wanted.

Then a stranger arrives, with a shocking secret that will force Lucy to make the hardest decision of her life.

Although at first I thought this book would be like a lot of ‘chick lit’ that I have read in recent years, it really wasn’t! There’s nothing wrong with literature aimed at women aka ‘chick lit’, and I often enjoyed it myself, but it’s usually pretty predictable, especially in the endings, but Piece’s of You is more of an original read, and unpredictable.

Pieces of You is a very emotive story, and it deals with issues such as infertility, miscarriage, and grief in a very sensitive and informative way. I am not ashamed to say, that at times whilst reading this book I had a tear in my eye!

This is the first book that the author Ella Harper has written under her own name, having previously had her books published under the name ‘Sasha Wagstaff’. As Sasha Wagstaff she wrote Changing Grooms, Wicked Games, Heaven Scent, and Recipe For Love. I’ve yet to read any of these books, but after reading Pieces of You I definitely plan to, and I also plan to read any new books by Ella Harper, as I am now officially a huge fan!

I’ve done a quick search, and Pieces of You is currently on Amazon for download for just £1.49!
