Review: Persil Powergems and the Mythical Happening

*Sponsored post – Persil Powergems*

Something happened this week, which hasn’t ever happened that I can remember in my children’s lifetime. I actually finished all of the washing. Yes I did indeed reach the mythical bottom of the laundry basket.

I knew it had a bottom when I bought it, I just haven’t seen it in so long that I had kind of forgotten it was there. I swear my children wear every item of clothing in their wardrobes for a whole ten minutes of the day each and then put them in for a wash.

I would love to say that I have suddenly become a domestic goddess, but that definitely hasn’t happened this week. No in fact I’ve done lots of washing, because the lovely people at Persil sent me some of their new Persil Powergems bio detergent to try out.

So what is new about the ‘new’ Persil Powergems?

For a start unlike most detergents, rather than being a powder or a liquid the Persil Powergems are in fact ‘gems’. Or rather small ‘flakes’. As soon as you pour them into the open the bottle, the gorgeously fresh smell hits you.

The gems don’t just look different, their shape helps them to disperse around the washing easily and efficiently. The Persil Powergems have been designed to have triple action power for stain removal, care and long-lasting freshness in a small concentrated dose.

Also unlike a lot of detergents, the Persil Powergems bottles also have a white safety top underneath the main one. This is such a good idea, as children unfortunately do love to try to play with anything that they aren’t allowed to.

How well did the Persil Powergems Bio Detergent Work?

They worked really well, getting the usual stains on items like tea towels out efficiently and all the washing smelt wonderful afterwards with a smell that lasted. I don’t know about you, but for me climbing into a freshly made bed that smells all clean of detergent, is a real pleasure for me.

We don’t tend to use fabric conditioner in our house due to one of the children having skin reactions to some of them in the past, so I’ve been missing that lovely fresh smell until now. The smell seems to last a lot longer than our other detergents too, which is a definite added bonus. I’ve been washing all the blankets in the house in it, as on colder nights the smell adds to the cosy feel.

Apparently theĀ “unique format of Persil Powergems is free from ingredients which can leave residue on fabric”. I definitely found this to be true, even when I slightly over loaded the machine a bit there wasn’t anything left on the clothes.

I will most definitely be buying the Persil Powergems again in the future.

Ah magic! We seem to have a magic laundry basket that never empties! Actually that’s a lie, I have a MIL that makes laundry disappear!

Ha! Sadly I can’t see the bottom of the basket now, but it was nice whilst it lasted ;)
