Sisterhood of The World Award Tag

The sisterhood of the world award bloggers tag is literally just a chance for bloggers to be nosy and ask each other questions, so I agreed to do it straight away ;)

Sisterhood of the World

I was tagged by the lovely Rachel over at Mummy in Training and by another lovely Rachel from The Melton House. The first lot of questions below are from Rachel – Mummy in Training;

What do you love most about blogging?

The friends I have made through it for definite, I’ve made friends who although I haven’t met (yet!), I speak to every day and who have me crying with laughter most days.

What is your favourite book?

At the risk of sounding a bit of a geek … it’s the Harry Potter books. I loved them, and the films especially as it’s a love I share with the boys. We really want to go to Harry Potter World later this year.

I also love P.S I love you as well – I’m a bit of a secret romantic.

Night in or night out?

Night in, as much as I do love sometimes getting dressed up to go out somewhere, there s nothing quite like getting snuggled up in my pjs with my little family and having a movie night or playing games together.

Why did you call your blog the name that you did?

Ha see my blog name is an easy one to explain… I’m Cornish and I’m a Mum. It’s also two of the things I’m most proud of, the county I live in and being a mum to two such lovely mini men.

Where is your favourite place to eat?

We tend to mostly eat at child friendly places as the boys aren’t especially adventurous in their tastes, but my favourite place is somewhere I’ve only been to with Si and other adults. It’s The Hop Store restaurant, which is upstairs from the Old Ale House pub in Truro. They have the most delicious River Cottage menu, and after reviewing them last year we went back for more.

If you could meet anyone famous, who would it be?

Jurgen Klopp – he’s Liverpool football club’s new manager and Si would love to meet him so I’d choose him so he could. Also he’s hilarious to watch and listen to in his interviews. If I was choosing just for me, I think maybe Hugh Jackman… I don’t think I need to explain that one!

Do you have any new years resolutions?

Instead of resolutions this year, I wrote a 2016 Bucket list of things I want to do and achieve. I’m much more likely to stick to a list of practical things than a vague promise of a resolution.

If you could spend the day without your phone or your laptop, which would it be?

Laptop definitely, I hate it if I forget my phone as I worry I’ll miss a phone call from the school to say one of the boys are ill or hurt.

Sweet or savoury?

Savoury for definite, although I love sweet things some of my favourite foods are cauliflower cheese, fresh bread, and garlic mushrooms. I’m definitely more of a savoury fan, but then I do love crumbles and cheesecakes… maybe I just like food.

If you could describe your blog in 3 words, what would they be?

Cornish, eclectic and happy.

On to the other Rachel’s question now …

Why did you start blogging

A big part of it was to raise awareness of the symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes and reach out to parents whose children have recently been diagnosed with Type 1. Also though, I’ve always loved writing and I was having premature empty nest syndrome with both boys in school full time and a lot more independent that they used to be.

Blogging has given me a purpose again, and that’s made such a difference to my life.

What is your 2016 blogging goal?

Hmm this is a tricky one, as blogging is so random. I’ve been chosen as a Butlins’ Ambassador for 2016, which I really didn’t expect you just never know what might happen – this is a major thing that I love about blogging. So my goal this year really is just to go with the flow and enjoy it.

What’s your favourite thing to do when you aren’t blogging?

Having days out with my family, whether this is a day at a theme park, a stroll around a National Trust house or a picnic on the beach, I just love spending time with Si and the boys and making memories.

What’s your favourite cocktail?

I think I last drank a cocktail in about 2005 ha, so I have absolutely no idea. My usual drink is vodka and lemonade – not very exotic.

If you won the lottery would you go public or keep it private

I think I would stay private as much as I could, I can imagine announcing it can attract some not very nice attention along with the good parts. I would have a lot of fun working out what to spend it on though.

What’s your biggest achievement so far?

Cheesy as this sounds, my children. They both make me very proud and although being a parent definitely comes with challenges and full scale battles at times, they are more than worth it.

When you were younger what did you want to be when you grew up?

Either a lawyer or a writer of some description.

What’s your favourite song

At the moment I am loving Love Yourself by Justin Bieber – I never thought I’d enjoy a Justin Bieber song but this one is a bit different, possibly as it’s written by Ed Sheeran who I love.

Which is your best blog post

For me it’s my Signs and symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes – our diagnosis story post. It was one of the hardest I’ve written so far, as it was discussing when my eldest nearly died as I didn’t know the symptoms. It’s the post I am most proud of though, as it’s spreading awareness of the symptoms so hopefully others will be more aware and act more quickly. It was a very scary time, and I was very emotional writing about it.

What’s your ideal date night

For definite going to Land’s End with Si, watching the sun set over the sea eating  meal there and then staying in the Land’s End hotel for the night. It’s something we keep talking about doing, we’ve been to Land’s End loads with the boys to watch fireworks, but never for a meal and a stop over. We’ll get around to it one day!

Here are the rules for the Sisterhood of the World Award:

1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award, and link back to their blog
2. Answer the 10 questions given to you
3. Nominate a further 10 bloggers for the award
4. Write 10 questions for those nominees to answer
5. Display the award on your blog, or post!

I’m going to cheat slightly here and nominate my good friends Natalie over at Plutonium Sox and Donna over at What the Redhead Said, but for the other bloggers I nominate anyone who fancies doing it. I hate leaving anyone out, so if you want to nominate yourselves then feel free!

Here are the questions to answer if so….

Where is your favourite place to go for a family day out?

If you won the lottery, what would you buy first other than houses or cars?

What is your favourite meal?

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

Tell me your favourite holiday you’ve had so far?

Why did you start blogging?

What was your favourite tv show as a child?

What are you scared of?

What is your alcoholic beverage of choice?

Tell me something random about you?

I love Harry Potter too, we really enjoyed Harry Potter World. I absolutely love the really obvious question of how your blog name came about too! And thanks so much for the tag :)

Great answers and always good to know more about the blogger behind the blog :) That’s very kind of you to give your celebrity meeting away Si! I enjoy watching Jurgen Klopp in his interviews as well, he’s very charismatic (and also not bad looking ;)… )

Ha I haven;t gone for the most adventurous one…. however having the Cornish part in my name means poor people searching for a Cornish pasty recipe or any other Cornish thing often end up on my site…. I’ve never made a pasty in my life, now thinking I should try though so they find what they were actually looking for ;)

Ha his interviews are hilarious and his expressions when he’s watching matches – love seeing a manager who actually gets so involved and shows his happiness or otherwise ;)
