It has been a few weeks since I last blogged about my weight loss journey, which Slimming World are helping me out with. Mostly due to half term and us going away to Butlin’s for the whole of it, meaning I was manic before with getting my site and our clothes etc ready, absent for a week and then… well basically in holiday mode still after that.
Before we went to Butlin’s at half term, I was 10 stone exactly. I started off with Slimming World at 10 stone and 6 lbs, losing 4 lbs the first week, 2 lbs the second and then annoyingly maintaining for two weeks.
Obviously it was great that I didn’t put any weight back on, but it was frustrating. I always seem to get stuck at a plateau weight, usually getting in to the next stone weight, so at least I am consistent. Also though, I was so busy with the blog and getting two weeks worth of writing done in just one week before we went away, that I was constantly sat at my laptop.
You don’t need to be a genius to work out, that if you are hardly moving all day, then you aren’t going to be burning many calories at all. Really I had Slimming World and my diet plan to thank for the fact that I didn’t put on a lot of weight before we went away.
At Butlin’s, as part of my ambassador role we were booked in on the premium dining plan. DANGER diet fail in the making, honestly a buffet of a wide variety of food every night, where you can eat as many different courses and as many plates of food as you like, is just asking for trouble diet wise.
Some nights I was vaguely good and enjoyed the salad bar with jacket potatoes, others it was all about the burgers, chips, lasagna and chocolate cheesecake… The main problem wasn’t the premium dining really, it was the takeaways on the way back to our room each night that did the damage.
Honestly who actually needs a Cornish pasty right before bed, or sausage and chips…. or a hotdog as long as their arm, when they ate a three course meal a few hours earlier?! The answer is no one, but the temptation was too much. I thought I was safe from Cornish pasties in Somerset I really did, so obviously that wasn’t my fault, it was the pasty’s fault for being so popular…
So I came home, we had a pizza takeaway for tea… you aren’t officially home from holiday until you’ve slept a night in your own bed by the way, and the next morning I weighed myself.
10 stone 6 lbs…. I had a moment where I felt a bit sad that I had gained 6 lbs whilst on holiday, a moment where I felt like i may as well continue binge eating now. Then I gave myself a bit of a talking to…. does anyone else do that out loud sometimes?! … along the lines of, you have done this, you ate all the food and it was blinking delicious, so no regrets and just get on with it.
I went back to following Slimming World guidelines, I started back running on the treadmill again and beat my personal best on there for time actually running, and I took back control.
Today when I weighed, I was 10 stone exactly, so I lost the 6 lbs from our holiday in one week. Despite being back at 10 stone, I am very proud of that and I feel so much more in control of my eating with Slimming World, as I know what I need to do to lose weight and it obviously works. I do think the exercise helps as well, there definitely needs to be a balance.
So now my target for my weigh in day next Tuesday is to get below that 10 stone plateau, when I hit 9 stone 13 lbs I will also officially not be classed as being overweight any more (just), so even if I just lose one pound this week, to me that really is the most important pound.
Wish me luck… though really it will just be hard work ;)
