My Slimming World Update – 14th June

It has been a few weeks since I last blogged about my weight loss journey, which Slimming World are helping me out with. Mostly due to half term and us going away to Butlin’s for the whole of it, meaning I was manic before with getting my site and our clothes etc ready, absent for a week and then… well basically in holiday mode still after that.

Slimming World

Before we went to Butlin’s at half term, I was 10 stone exactly. I started off with Slimming World at 10 stone and 6 lbs, losing 4 lbs the first week, 2 lbs the second and then annoyingly maintaining for two weeks.

Obviously it was great that I didn’t put any weight back on, but it was frustrating. I always seem to get stuck at a plateau weight, usually getting in to the next stone weight, so at least I am consistent. Also though, I was so busy with the blog and getting two weeks worth of writing done in just one week before we went away, that I was constantly sat at my laptop.

You don’t need to be a genius to work out, that if you are hardly moving all day, then you aren’t going to be burning many calories at all. Really I had Slimming World and my diet plan to thank for the fact that I didn’t put on a lot of weight before we went away.

At Butlin’s, as part of my ambassador role we were booked in on the premium dining plan. DANGER diet fail in the making, honestly a buffet of a wide variety of food every night, where you can eat as many different courses and as many plates of food as you like, is just asking for trouble diet wise.

Some nights I was vaguely good and enjoyed the salad bar with jacket potatoes, others it was all about the burgers, chips, lasagna and chocolate cheesecake… The main problem wasn’t the premium dining really, it was the takeaways on the way back to our room each night that did the damage.

Honestly who actually needs a Cornish pasty right before bed, or sausage and chips…. or a hotdog as long as their arm, when they ate a three course meal a few hours earlier?! The answer is no one, but the temptation was too much. I thought I was safe from Cornish pasties in Somerset I really did, so obviously that wasn’t my fault, it was the pasty’s fault for being so popular…

So I came home, we had a pizza takeaway for tea… you aren’t officially home from holiday until you’ve slept a night in your own bed by the way, and the next morning I weighed myself.

10 stone 6 lbs…. I had a moment where I felt a bit sad that I had gained 6 lbs whilst on holiday, a moment where I felt like i may as well continue binge eating now. Then I gave myself a bit of a talking to…. does anyone else do that out loud sometimes?! … along the lines of, you have done this, you ate all the food and it was blinking delicious, so no regrets and just get on with it.

I went back to following Slimming World guidelines, I started back running on the treadmill again and beat my personal best on there for time actually running, and I took back control.

Today when I weighed, I was 10 stone exactly, so I lost the 6 lbs from our holiday in one week. Despite being back at 10 stone, I am very proud of that and I feel so much more in control of my eating with Slimming World, as I know what I need to do to lose weight and it obviously works. I do think the exercise helps as well, there definitely needs to be a balance.

So now my target for my weigh in day next Tuesday is to get below that 10 stone plateau, when I hit 9 stone 13 lbs I will also officially not be classed as being overweight any more (just), so even if I just lose one pound this week, to me that really is the most important pound.

Wish me luck… though really it will just be hard work ;)

*I have currently got an online membership to Slimming World online, which they gave me in return for writing about them, but only after I pitched to them. All thoughts and diet fails are entirely my own and honest*

Stevie you have done brilliantly to lose your holiday weight in just one week. It is so easy to put on but harder to lose so well done hun. Temptation really is all around when you go on holiday, but you are right that there is no point in regretting it. When we went to Greece in April, we were having room service at midnight, just because we could. We probably were not even hungry x

    • 15 June 2016 / 9:08 pm

Oh midnight room service sounds pretty amazing, I so wouldn’t have been able to resist that ;) I am pretty proud of my effort paying off since we got back, thanks lovely

Aww holidays and dieting in tandem are so hard to manage, mentally as well as physically. For what it’s worth,
I always find I weigh more directly after a holiday or Christmas because of the sheer weight of the bulky food I’ve been consuming, rather than necessarily a straight fat gain if that makes sense? That would explain why you lost the 6lb in a week, it was probably mass and bloat more than anything else. Quickly on but quickly off and you had a good holiday, that’s the most important thing. If you can’t think sod it on holiday, what’s the point? #picknmix

  9. 17 June 2016 / 7:27 am

Thats amazing to loose the holiday weight in one week! Just shows that with determination you can do most things. Keep up the fab work x

  10. 17 June 2016 / 8:29 am

You’re doing amazing!Everyone over ears on holiday, it’s some kind of unwritten rule that that’s what you are supposed to do. You’re obviously doing something right to be able to loose all that weight in one week. Keep at it, that 9st13 will be yours before you know it xx #picknmix

  11. 17 June 2016 / 9:43 am

The most important part of this whole post is the point where you decided not to binge and do something positive rather than beat yourself up about gaining a few pounds. To be honest I usually try to drop a few pounds before any holiday or time where I know there will be lots of food involved PURELY so I can freely enjoy myself because I’ve ‘banked’ a few lbs – does that make sense? It’s really hard sometimes (all the time!) if you’re trying to be healthy and constantly surrounded by temptation but there has to be a balance of health and actually enjoying life too. Great work getting the mindset right, it’s as much an accomplishment as the weight loss itself x #picnmix

  12. 17 June 2016 / 11:47 am

Well done!! And I know what you mean – I always get hungry just before I go to bed and that is the worst time to eat because you can’t burn it off!! #PicknMix

  13. 17 June 2016 / 12:39 pm

Well done Stevie. Many people would have buckled and given up. It’s great that you just accepted you had had a great holiday and put on weight and then just went back to working at getting back to where you were. It’s impossible to go on holiday and not eat after all – that would defeat the point. Good luck for Tuesday, am sure you can hit that target. #picknmix

  14. 17 June 2016 / 4:45 pm

Oh I can just imagine your face when the scales said 10st 6 again! but wow to you losing it in a week – just fantastic – wishing lots of luck for 9st13 next weigh in lovely – you have the right approach so well done! #PicknMix

  15. 17 June 2016 / 11:48 pm

Everyone puts on weight while on holiday! You have worked hard to lose those extra few pounds in a week – well done. I’m sure you will get back into your stride now xx

  16. 18 June 2016 / 10:04 pm

There is no point getting hung up as life is too short. You enjoyed your time at Butlins and you have done the best thing with getting back on the wagon. Sometimes that is the hardest bit drawing the line and moving on. Well done for the loss and here’s to many more :) X #picknmix

    20 June 2016 / 1:27 pm

I think it’s impossible to eat healthily on holidays! Well done for losing your holiday weight so quickly xx #Picknmix

  18. 22 June 2016 / 11:18 am

Well done Stevie – you are doing so well! I think you are allowed to put on when you are on holiday (what’s the fun in not enjoying yourself?)

I look forward to reading about how you get on #PicknMix

  19. 23 June 2016 / 10:53 pm

I think everyone lets it go a bit on holiday – well done for getting back on track so quickly! Hope you manage that pound! #picknmix

  20. 23 June 2016 / 11:31 pm

Wow go you on losing it all again in a week. I do know how tough it is and well sometimes you just have to enjoy life for a while and if that means eating a pasty do it! Just not every day ;) You are going to feel so good when you reach your target weight! xx
