Ten Things That I Love and Ten That I Hate!

I was tagged by the lovely Lisa at Into The Glade and Caroline at Diary of a Mum of 3 to take part in a bloggers’ tag, where basically I need to post a list of ten things that I love and ten things that I hate. Just a bit of fun, but I thought I’d give it a go!

Hate and Love

Ten Things That I Love:

My family!

Cornwall – a very obvious one I know, but I do love where I live, I’m proud to be Cornish and I would never want to (nor ever have) live anywhere else.

The sea – including watching a stormy sea, walks on the beach, jumping waves and lazy beach evenings.

Cornish sea

The boys and my niece Aimee a long time ago!

Butterflies – there is just something about them that is so beautiful, and yet caterpillars especially hairy ones freak me out slightly.

Fireworks – we go to at least two displays every year, and it was at a fireworks display that Si and I had our first date as he’s a bit fireworks mad so they bring back good memories as well.

Cauliflower cheese with mushrooms on the side – I could happily live off of this, annoyingly though only if I eat it at home as so many restaurants under cook cauliflower cheese and it’s not the same if you have to crunch your way through it, it should be melt in the mouth deliciousness.

Blogging – another obvious one, but I couldn’t not say it! In the six months that I have started and run A Cornish Mum, I have had so many brilliant experiences, made some fantastic friends and started to feel like ‘me’ again not just ‘Mum’ or ‘lady who irons our clothes and cooks our meals – badly’.

Christmas – I love Christmas with my little family, seeing the boys faces when they open their presents and just spending the day watching Christmas tv and playing games together is perfect to me.

Ballet – not to dance, I have awful natural balance so this was never going to happen, but I love to watch it. There is just something so beautiful about how they move so gracefully. We watched guangdong a troupe from China do a ballet/acrobatics rendition of Swan Lake in Birmingham years ago and it was amazing. I’m hoping to see some more ballet this year at some point.

Chick flicks – if I’m in an especially bad mood, then watching a total cheese fest of romantic films usually helps, or gives me an excuse to cry and blame it something other than what or who is stressing me out! I love all sorts of films usually, especially action (never horror) but sometimes only a good old romance will do. P.S I love you and 50 First Dates get me every time and I’ve watched both countless times.

Ten Things That I Hate:

Type 1 Diabetes – if you read my blog or know me, I won’t need to explain this one! Fin copes with a lot every day and I hate that he has to.

Seeing people smoke when they are with their children – whether this is whilst pushing a pushchair, whilst in the car with them or while sitting in a park, it really bugs me that people think it’s okay to mess with their children’s health. I especially hate it if people think it’s okay to smoke within breathing distance of my boys, especially with Fin’s asthma. This rant could go on for a very long time, but I will leave it there.

Polystyrene – the noise that this stuff makes when it’s rubbed is excruciating to me, I really can’t stand it. Of course this means that Si and the boys think it’s hilarious to chase me with it. Does anyone else hate this or am I just weird?

Being told to do things – feel free to ask me to do things, but I hate to be told and bossed around. The chances are if you tell me to do something I will be wanting to do the opposite just to spite you.

Mint sauce – I really can’s even stand the smell of it, and Si mixes his with vinegar (apparently that’s normal?!) which makes the smell even more over powering.

People who put others down and bullies – I find it so unnecessary. I don’t feel the need to slate others or make them feel bad, and I hate that some people do.

The dentist – we have a perfectly nice dentist, but after several bad experiences over the years with different dentists I get really nervous about going, and injections in my mouth are definitely high on my list of hates!

Grey hairs – why do they have to grown so much faster and thicker than the other hairs on my head? I miss the days of dyeing my hair for ‘fun’ rather than necessity.

Cats – sorry everyone who loves them or owns them, but there are so many on our road who either use our garden and paths outside as a toilet, rip open everyone’s bin bags or have fights at 3am underneath our window. I admit I may occasional throw water at the ones in the garden and I so wish people had indoor cats instead or at least didn’t decide to own 8 of them!

Anyone touching my feet – I have ridiculously ticklish feet, and have been known to accidentally kick the boys in the face when they’ve tickled them. It’s just something I can’t cope with and I suspect pedicures will never be part of my life!

What do you especially hate or love?

I tag Lisa at The Love of A Captain,

Maria at Suburban Mum

Julie at Picking Up Toys

I also tag any blogger who fancies taking part in this!

Sorry but I’m with Si on the mint sauce – mix it with vinegar and then pour it over mash potatoes until they’re green! Mmmm! (You hate me too now right?!)

Oh and smoking! That is on my list as well!

I’m doing this tag for next month’s 10 Things I think!

Ha ha! I love this and will have a go on my blog.
I do love cats though but can see why you don’t. We also have problems with cats shredding our bin bags (it’s not my cats!) and so do get slightly frustrated with that.
Grey hairs! Argh! I understand your dislike for them. Exactly the same here.

Grey hairs are evil, and why do they always stand to attention on my head as well?! Will look forward to reading yours :)

Great list! I hate polystyrene too. My husband thinks it’s slightly bizarre but it has the same effect as someone putting their nail down a blackboard for me. Arghh! I also hate the feel of sponge – completely puts my teeth on edge (not the cake version though – I love that!).

    • 29 July 2015 / 9:02 pm

So glad it’s not just me! Now fancying some cake ;)

Great list Stevie. How can you not like mint sauce!! I always add vinegar and sugar to mine…yum, yum! I’m afraid to say that the grey hairs have a habit of multiplying at an alarming rate as you get older. I won’t be beaten though even if it means buying shares in ‘Nice and Easy’! xx

    • 30 July 2015 / 12:17 pm

Sugar as well?! I’m afraid I will never be a mint sauce convert Bree, I can hardly cope with the smell! ;)
