The Christmas Tag

I was recently tagged by the very lovely Beth to take part in the Christmas tag, which is basically just answering some questions all about Christmas.

The Christmas Tag

What’s your favourite Christmas Movie?

It’s a tie between Miracle on 34th Street and Home Alone, as I love them both too much to choose!

WHERE DO YOU USUALLY SPEND YOUR HOLIDAY?

We’re always at home for Christmas Day and usually have Si’s parents over or we’re at their house which is just 2 doors away for lunch. This year we have a friend over for lunch so I’m cooking and then Si’s parents are joining us for Christmas buffet tea – yum!

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR DREAM PLACE TO VISIT FOR THE HOLIDAYS?

I’ve mentioned loads of times that I would love to go away for Christmas one year and stay in a cosy cottage with an open fire. Preferably somewhere where Christmas dinner is delivered cooked ha or that has a pub close by that serves it.

DO YOU OPEN YOUR PRESENTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE OR CHRISTMAS MORNING?

We open one on Christmas Eve and then the rest on Christmas morning.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MEMORY?

I have a least favourite one, which involved one of the boys cutting their foot and getting blood everywhere resulting in a Christmas Day visit to Accident and Emergency.

I love Christmas though and have so many good memories of spending it as a family with Si and the boys and also of when I was a child too.

BE HONEST: DO YOU LIKE GIVING GIFTS OR RECEIVING GIFTS BETTER?

In all honesty giving gifts is better, I love choosing presents that I think people will love and seeing the boys’ faces when they open their gifts every year is one of my favourite things.

FAVOURITE FESTIVE FOOD?

This has to be a tie between pigs in blankets and stuffing, I could eat a huge plate full of both quite happily!

FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SCENTS?

The smell of Christmas dinner cooking… what can I say, I’m a bit of a pig.

DO YOU HAVE ANY CHRISTMAS EVE TRADITIONS?

Every Christmas Eve we’re all allowed to open one present after tea, we also usually play board games in the evening too.

WHAT TOPS YOUR TREE?

Normally it’s a star, but I had enough of it being completely wonky and impossible to sort, so this year we have a big Santa on top of our tree.

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A WHITE CHRISTMAS?

Not that I can remember, we don’t get a huge amount of snow in Cornwall, but it may well have happened.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?

Probably Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and I Wish it Could be Christmas Everyday by Wizzard jointly. There are loads that I like though.

IS YOUR CHRISTMAS TREE REAL OR FAKE?

Fake, as pretty as the real ones are they seem like a real hassle. Our tree is a messy mix of baubles we’ve bought from all over the place and old home made ones of the boys, which is exactly how I like it – no Instagram perfect tree here.

ARE YOU A PROFESSIONAL PRESENT WRAPPER OR DO YOU FAIL MISERABLY?

It all depends on how much time I have, some years I wrap gifts really prettily and other years they look a bit chaotic.

WHAT MAKES THE HOLIDAYS SPECIAL FOR YOU?

It’s most definitely spending time with family! Though I love everything about Christmas, the films, food, board games, chocolate for breakfast, alcohol (I pretty much only drink twice a year) and seeing people’s faces when they open presents from me. I LOVE Christmas.

This is the bit where I should tag someone to answer these questions in a blog post, but since it’s almost Christmas I’ll just ‘tag’ anyone who wants to take part.
