Things I have Liked and Loved – February 2016

This is my favourite post to write every month, my list of things I have liked and loved. Here’s my list for February 2016.

Liked and Loved February 2016

Harley’s Birthday

My ‘baby’ is now ten! That seems crazy to me, but he had a brilliant birthday party and I’m so happy it went well for him. We went to a local soft play centre to play laser tag and then for them to all run around like loons. He also had one of his best friends to sleep over afterwards.

I’ve become part of the NOW TV Blog Squad this month, which I will be blogging about soon but as part of that I have access to all the NOW TV packages. Perfect timing with my eldest being ill, we’ve watched two films in the last two days and it has just about saved my sanity.

We don’t usually have pancakes on pancake day… or any other day as I am usually a disaster in the kitchen and have never managed to make a nice pancake. However, this year I watched a few videos and realised the trick was to make them smaller and not use scales to weigh everything, just cups and my eyes to see whether the mixture needed more of anything.

Amazingly (I’m easily pleased) this worked perfectly, so we may now be eating pancakes a whole lot more. Harley loved his Nutella covered ones.

Being chosen as a Butlin’s Ambassador

This actually happened at the end of January, but after my last Things I’ve Liked and Loved post had been published. There were only 30 bloggers chosen out of a huge amount who applied, so I feel pretty proud of this. It means that at some point this year my family will be having a little jolly to Butlin’s and I will be sharing some Butlin’s content through the year.

My blog

I don’t love or like the fact that the BBC feels it’s okay to joke about diabetes on television shows like Eastenders, but I wrote an open letter to the BBC that has gone a bit crazy site view wise and I love that my blog let’s me do something more constructive with my annoyance with them, other than just shout at the television.

Shed progress

Si knocked down the old concrete sheds ages ago to build new improved bigger ones, but the project had a major setback as it rained and rained and then rained some more! However he has the foundations and the shed floor done now, and finally it’s looking like we might have a decent shed in the near future, and I will finally be able to remove the huge tumble dryer from our small dining room!

Blogger friends

One of my favourite things about blogging is the community. I have made so many wonderful blogger friends in the last 13 months since I started blogging, and I am so grateful for that. There are people who are there for me when I am having a bad day, and also to be happy for me when I am having a great day.

Surprise post

The Co-operative sent me a surprise parcel for Valentine’s Day, which was such a lovely surprise. Even though we don’t usually do anything for Valentine’s, we had a lovely Valentine’s breakfast thanks to them which made a nice change.

I also had a mumtreats subscription box arrive for review, I was expecting this piece of post but obviously the contents were a surprise.

Person of Interest and the X Files

The new series of Person of Interest has just started on channel 5 and X Files in back on television! Does anyone else watch either of these programmes? Si and I love both, although X-Files seems to be a lot more comical than it used to be.

Finally after all the rain in Cornwall in recent months, we have seen some sunshine. Not only that but the nights are getting a little bit lighter – Spring is on its way!

What have you liked and loved this month?

Stevie x

See, I was enjoying reading this. I’m also loving now tv and I was delighted for you about how well your diabetes post went. Then I read about all your lovely surprises in the post, now all I hear is blah blah blah…

Sounds like you’ve had a fab month! Well done on becoming a Butlins blogger! The highlight for me blogging-wise this month was teaming up with Pampers and making a vlog about their #SagGoneGrooveOn campaign. It forced me to capture some very cute videos of Little B which I wouldn’t have done otherwise! #tenthings

Great month for you Stevie :) Well done on all the brand work and opportunities though your blog. My husband was so excited about the return of the X-Files , but he’s also a bit bemused about the tone of it!

Happy February to you Stevie. Some lovely moments here. I went to Butlins for one of their 80s weekends a couple of years ago and had such a good time, although I expect that’ll be a different experience to what you will have. The family breaks are (quite rightly) A LOT tamer.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Now TV box as we are considering one as an alternative to more pricey TV packages. I’m not quite convinced it’s right for us though! We didn’t have pancakes this year *sobs* they are my favourite thing ever – maybe we will have a belated pancake day instead! #PicknMix

A great month for you! Pleased to hear that your thoughts about the Diabetes story on Eastenders was listened to, I don’t watch it, but great to know that your blog can help get important points across. Your pancakes look great and enjoy Now TV, we love ours too, just watched the entire series of Spartacus (good but a bit gory)! Happy birthday to your little man, I bet time just flies now they’re out the single age years! Have a lovely month! :) xx

  10. 27 February 2016 / 9:27 am

  11. 27 February 2016 / 12:35 pm

What a great month! Congrats on being selected as a Butlins Ambassador! Can’t wait to see what you get up to. If you get to go to the Butlins in Pwllheli please let me know and I’ll shout you a coffee or something! :) There you go, that’s how you could visit my wonderful Snowdonia! ;)

I’ve not read your Eastenders post yet – I’m so behind sorry! – but I’ve read your Facebook statuses about it. I will read the post soon but no, it’s never ok to joke about an illness or disability.

Oo that Mumstreats box looks interesting! x
