Hard to believe that this will be my last ‘Things I Have Liked / Loved’ of the year, December 2015 has been mostly good.
Obviously there has been the excitement of Christmas coming, but I have also had weeks of one person or another being ill, which means that a lot of my December plans had to be changed at the last moment. However there are always positives, and the radio interview I had to cancel for this month, will happen in January for a start.
Anyway here are the things I have really liked and loved for December 2015.
Reaching number 80 in Tots 100 – The Tots 100 parent blogger ranking system ranks over 8000 blogs every month, so being number 80 my highest ever score with them feels pretty amazing.
Family meals out – Earlier this month we went out with a lot of Si’s family for one of his nephew’s birthdays, which was lovely. The boys especially loved it as they love Simon’s eldest nephews, who sometimes babysit for us – this often involves finding Nerf bullets in the toilet when we come home as they have Nerf wars.
We also went to the Hubbox in Truro with one of my sisters, my brother-in-law and my niece Aimee for a meal this week. We try to do this most years, and it’s always a lot of fun. It was the first time I’d been to the Hubbox and it was the best burger I had ever tasted, so we’ll definitely be going back at some point.
Watching Star Wars at the cinema – I had been looking forward to this for ages, yes I admit it I’m a bit of a geek at heart. It was absolutely brilliant, although very emotional. I won’t spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet by dropping hints though, as Star Wars is not something you spoil for others unless you are a real meanie. It was just the boys and I who watched it, as Si isn’t such a geek ;)
A Christmas Night In Twitter Party – I love how varied the things that blogging gets me doing are. Earlier this week I had a ‘Christmas Night In‘ Twitter Party with other bloggers and Ocean Finance, where I received all sorts of treats for taking part. It was a lot of fun, and I love presents.
Christmas! – I couldn’t not include this one. This year it was a quieter than usual affair, as it was just the four of us for lunch for the first time ever. It was lovely though, very relaxed and just good quality family time – plus one split lip and a J2O glass explosion I won’t get in to!
We will be having people over at other times, and hopefully having a couple of days out with other family members over the next week, but it was nice to have a quiet one. Christmas is my favourite time of year.
Having everyone home – This is part of why I love Christmas so much, as Si and the boys all have around two weeks off every year. I love having everyone home, plus not having to get dressed whilst it’s still dark outside is a nice bonus.
Christmas television – I love that at this time of year, when you turn the television on there is actually something to watch during the day. A lot of daytime television is rubbish, and I think the television channels forget about the stay at home parent and work from home parent demographic when planning programmes. For the next week or so though, I will be recording a lot of things to keep me going for weeks.
Christmas Lights – I know, I know I am mentioning Christmas several times…but it is December. Anyway, I love Christmas lights, we often go for a drive around to spot pretty ones on other people’s houses, and we have plenty in and on our own house to enjoy as well.
Giant Ferrero Rocher – My hinting and including it in my Christmas gift guide on here worked, and I had one of these beauties under the tree this year. It was absolutely delicious and didn’t last long once I’d opened it up.
Making the boys happy – At Christmas I love getting gifts myself obviously, but I love more giving people gifts that they love, especially my boys. This year especially I managed to get their presents just right apparently, and their happy faces on Christmas morning were well worth the work that has gone into our crimbo.
I hope you’ve all had a brilliant month and especially an amazing Christmas! What has been your highlight this month?
