Things I Liked and Loved in July 2017

Time for my round-up of what I liked and loved for July 2017. Crazy to think so much of the year has gone already, the time is flying by! Here’s my likes and loves for this month.

The start of the school holidays

I know a lot of people on social media sound as if they’re almost dreading the holidays and 6 weeks (or more for many) of entertaining their children, but it’s my favourite time of year.

Having the boys at home, no school runs and all the lie ins! My eldest broke up on Friday, but my youngest is actually only breaking up today. My youngest crazily has also now left primary school for good after today!

Lacura Suncare sun cream from Aldi

Unfortunately poor Harley got really badly sunburned at the beach with school this month and was in a lot of pain. He ended up needing some pretty strong creams to sort it out and I felt awful for him. The worst bit is he was putting sun cream on, he just missed lots of bits and the sun cream wasn’t as good as it should have been.

I saw online recently that it isn’t just the SPF level that you need to look at on sun cream, you also need to check the stars on the bottle. The stars tell you how much UVA protection the cream will provide you with. The cream Harley had on at the beach had 3 stars on it, the Lacura ones that we were recently sent to try out have 5 stars.

Since using the Lacura ones, no one in the house has had any sunburn. I’ll be sticking to 5 star creams in the future and most likely the Lacura ones, as you can buy them in Aldi starting from just £1.99 for the aftersun and the most expensive one is only £3.29! The Lacura SPF 30 sun spray has recently been revealed as the lowest costing sunspray to pass Which? SPF testing too.

The new Spider-Man film

Despite being a bit of a geek really and a big superhero film fan, I wasn’t looking forward to being dragged to the cinema to watch Spider-Man as I usually hate Spider-Man films, but it was actually really good. I’m definitely pleased the boys convinced me to go. Even if we started off the film with a popcorn related accident.

Having a Teenager

Crazily I thought I’d almost be dreading this ha and yes he is a bit stroppy at times already, but after almost losing him when he was 5, milestone birthdays just make me so grateful – and emotional.

Lunch with Si’s Mum Flo

Who doesn’t love a beer garden lunch in the sunshine? Si’s parents are amazing, I really don’t know what we would have done at times without them. Luckily we get on well, as they only live 2 doors away ha! I had a lovely walk and lunch with Flo this month whilst the sun was shining – today it’s a bit more rainy and grey just in time for the school hols.

Booking my Blogon Ticket

I jumped ship this month from Britmums Live to the BlogOn Conference for September. I have wanted to attend BlogOn for so long and just decided to do it. Even better I get a road trip with two of the nicest bloggers I know Donna and Laura. Plus Donna is my roomie for the night and I really can’t wait! So excited to meet lots of bloggers that I haven’t before and catch up with a few faves as well.

What was good about your July? Mine had a few lows, but as you’ve read a lot of highs too.

I was sent the sun cream in this post and asked to mention it only if I liked or loved it, as always all thoughts and opinions are my own and honest.

I can’t wait for our road trip, it’s going to be so much fun! I never knew that about stars in sun cream I’m going to check ours. I bet that did hurt, bless him! I’m excited for the summer holidays x

Yay to blogging events although I’ve yet to attend one. Great to read that you’ve found some reasonably priced and effective suncreams. Being burnt is so painful.

I have been so excited to see the new Spider-Man film but we barely have time to go to the cinema these days and it’s hard to find someone the kid is comfortable hanging with at bed time. Guess it’s another DVD release we’ll be waiting for.

I didn’t know about the stars thing on suncreams until recently. Poor Harley – hope he’s ok now! I also didn’t fancy the SpiderMan film – I enjoyed the Tobey Maguire ones but since it’s a bit meh. What happened to the popcorn?! Beautiful sunny photos! And yay for BlogOn! I’m also off to BlogOn in September :)

I love the school holidays too, love that August is just a month of no routine and family time. xx

Aw, poor Harley for getting sunburned. I’m so glad you found a good sun cream though.
