I was recently sent a copy of Timmy Failure – Now Look What You’ve Done by Stephan Pastis to review, which the boys were very excited about. They love books like Diary of a Wimpy kid, ShoutyKid and Captain Underpants, so I knew they’d enjoy this book.
Timmy Failure is similar to these books in that the main character is a young boy, there are cartoon illustrations throughout the book and it has a real comedy element to it. So, if your children like the other books, I suspect they will love this one! One thing that Timmy Failure has that I’ve definitely not seen in any of the books before, is that one of the main characters is a polar bear!
Timmy Failure runs his own Detective agency called ‘Total Failure Inc’ and pretty much does what the name of his agency says. Despite all the evidence he makes his own very incorrect conclusions about what he thinks has occurred, and he does this with the ‘help’ of his polar bear partner Total.
In fact at the beginning of the book in the prologue, Total is blocking a water slide like a big giant fur ball. Timmy Failure always thinks everything is everyone else’s fault, which I’m sure a lot of tweens can identify with! The boys are still currently reading Timmy Failure – Now Look What You’ve Done and are really enjoying it!
I’ve as usual sneakily read ahead of them, and can tell you that it is well worth a read, I’ve even enjoyed reading it myself without them, but ssh don’t tell them or I’ll be in trouble!
If you would like to win a copy of the book, I have one to give away to one of my lovely blog readers. Simply enter the competition to win the book via the rafflecopter below. The only compulsory entry is to comment and tell me what your favourite animal is, a polar bear like Total or something else?!
Check out my competition section, as there’s often more than one competition running. If you would like to purchase your own copy of Timmy Failure Now Look What You’ve Done, you can pop to Amazon to buy one!
