Valentine’s Day with Bettys

I was recently sent some of the most beautiful chocolates that I have ever seen from Bettys for Valentine’s Day.

Valentines Day with Bettys chocolate

In all truthfulness Si and I don’t really do Valentine’s Day. Don’t get me wrong at times we are romantic, we just aren’t the socks with hearts on, single red rose type of people.

For one neither of us likes to waste money – *wistfully daydreams about not having to worry about money ever*. Plus we tend to go for more sarcastic love than soppy love. I love the man like crazy, but the mug that I gave him last Valentine’s Day which said ‘You’ll Do I Suppose’ is more ‘us’ than a heart emblazoned mug.

Admittedly I have bought him a Mr Men mug with Mr Perfect on before, but I’ve kept the balance there by also buying him a Mr Grumpy mug. I tend to make him tea in whichever mug best suits his or my mood at the time ha! Apparently I should have a Miss Short Angry Person mug, but they don’t make them unfortunately …

We also make a lot more effort for birthdays and special occasions that other people don’t share with us. We do usually buy small gifts for each other at Valentine’s that are thoughtful and actually useful.

Chocolate comes in to this category, as in my opinion it is one of life’s essentials. Chocolate that looks like this, most definitely appeals to me as well.

Chocolate from Bettys for Valentine's Day

Bettys Valentine's Day chocolates

This year for Valentine’s I’ll be frugal and vaguely romantic, as I’ll be giving the Bettys chocolates to Si as a gift. I may well help him to eat them though, as there are rather a lot. So basically I would really be helping him out by eating them.

To me Valentine’s isn’t about how much you spend – just as well in my case – it’s about spending the day with the person you love, doing something that you both love. In our case eating chocolate and just being together.

What are your Valentine’s plans? Do you buy gifts and make a much bigger deal of it than us?

*If you fancy buying the one you love chocolate this year, mostly so that you can help them eat it, then visit the Bettys website*

I was sent the items mentioned above for the purpose of this post, but as ever all thoughts and opinions are my own and honest.

These are really pretty looking chocolates! I agree with you that Valentines is about spending the day with the person you love rather than spending lots of monies! My boyfriend and I tend to buy each other little gifts and put money towards a day out! :) x

I would love to go there too, though it is a little bit of a trek from Cornwall ;)

Ohh! They are so pretty! Almost too pretty to eat…hehehe
My fella and I are not doing gifts or cards. We’re going to go out for a meal while the kids are at school x

Ooh I love a mid week lunch date child free. We’re actually going to be at Butlin’s this year so I highly doubt it’ll be romantic ;)

Ooh these look fabulous. Yep Valentine’s day is all about chocolate here too. That and forgetting it’s Valentine’s day, or remembering last minute and accidentally buying a birthday card from the garage. Sigh.

Ha love it, luckily for me there’s a pretty amazing shop on the way home for Si which is where he pretty much always shops last minute on the way home for everything ;)

These would definitely bring a smile to my face if I received them on Valentine’s Day. I think we might just be card giving this year! X

Betty’s Tea Room is on my list of ‘places I MUST visit’ and these chocolates look divine, and how pretty is the packaging. My husband also has a Mr Grumpy mug, and whilst we exchange cards and a small gift (I got him a pack of snickers as he loves them lol) we won’t be doing anything extra special. Though we will be in Bath but that’s because it’s half term and not Valentines day x

We don’t really do Valentine’s at all, but we do nice things for each other all the time. I think getting up at 6am all winter to make him a flask is pretty romantic really ha *yawns*
