Scruffs very kindly sent Si a Pro softshell jacket from their range of workwear and we decided to test it out with a coastal cliff top walk from Par to Polkerris.
Si really likes the look of the Scruffs Pro softshell jacket, considering it is marketed as work wear he is happy to wear it as ‘normal’ day time clothing as well.
The jacket has a soft orange fleece-like lining, which makes it really warm despite it being thin. Perfect for the Cornish weather, as if you get too hot wearing it, it will fit really easily inside a rucksack or be light to carry. It’s actually a very bright orange colour, that my photo below doesn’t really show, but you can see the soft texture.
Cornish weather is the perfect test for any garment, as it can change in the blink of an eye from a beautiful sunny day to a grey pouring with rain one. This is why when you live in Cornwall you tend to have back-up shoes and clothing in the car no matter where you’re headed for the day.
This was exactly what happened on our walk between Par and Polkerris. On the way to Polkerris it was beautiful and bright, looking back towards Par as we walked the dark clouds were following us and splitting the sky in half. Luckily for Si, the Scruffs jacket is waterproof – you could even see the rain running off the jacket rather than being soaked in.
I’ve just realised when looking at photos to add, that the rucksack he has on in the photo is the Scruffs one we reviewed a little while ago, so just goes to show we really did love it ;)
In our experience Scruffs items are hardwearing, hardworking and good looking – much like my favourite ‘model’ here. This jacket also has decent sized pockets, plus drawstring tighteners at the bottom and velcro tighteners at the wrists, to make for a perfect fit.
We were sent Simon’s usual size of medium and it fitted perfectly, so their sizing must be pretty average which makes it easier for choosing what size to order.
For work, for cliff top hikes, or any other outdoor activity, we definitely recommend this Scruffs Softshell jacket which is currently priced at £49.95 on the Scruffs website.
*We were sent the jacket in this post for an honest review, and as always that is what I have given***To comment on this blog you do not need to leave your name, email address or website if you don't wish to.
